Allow me to flatter you even further..... your still a "young man"😎 said this septuagenarian, 71 yrs 3 months. And yes, the 70-200 f2.8 Tamron G2 (don't hate) is one of my favorite zooms that I'm still learning and swap out with the 15-30 mm f2.8 of the same brand also in continuing education. But I get the " prime thing " ( vintage Nikon 24, 85,105, & 135).

How nice😎. Makes me regret the opportunity I had years ago to acquire when film was my norm for my FM2N Nikon. Just a nice piece of glass! Thanks for sharing Sir!

If people don't see the jaw-dropping impact in these, well, there's simply no hope for you πŸ™„

Learn the limitations, such as dynamic range or low-light issues or how large you can print, as mentioned - just as you would with any camera that's not top tier.

Indeed, I've submitted a couple of photos from my Google Pixel 2. One has been published as a cover for a trade journal and later won 2nd place category best cover for the annual FMA Charlie Awards. The other was printed 3' x 4' as a finalist for intercompany competition and held up. I couldn't agree with you more.

- NIKKOR 85 f1.8 AF-D. Was asking $200. Solid 9 of 10 condition.

Five other lenses and 3 cameras had sold during the sale.

I stopped by just as they were shutting down on Sunday. They dropped the prices to $250/$100/$150.

I offered $350 for the lot and we settled at $400 if they all mounted, focused, and metered. They did.

[quote=lschiz]I have been the SmugMug user for nearly 7 years now. Nowhere near an expert at it but a little farther along than I was several years ago. It’s true if it’s displayed on a computer screen, someone can do a screen capture but that resolution and quality is crap compared to having the file in hand. Smug mug does give you the option in it’s menus to disable the right click and download. Files cannot be downloaded unless you turn that on that can be turned on for each folder each gallery, the control of that is all up to you. In regards to pricing, it’s at the photographers, the owner’s discretion what he, what we think our work is worth.
SmugMug is, like many other services out there, is an excellent tool. I’m hooked up with White House custom color thru Smug mug and photos can be purchased directly through them.
This is one of many great servings and my, one of many opinions.[/qu

Appreciate you sharing your experience and I'm likely to entertain joining Smugmug based on yours and other fellow hoggers who have weighed in. Blessings and continued good shooting 😎.

I use Smugmug and I'm happy with it. It's affordable and my photos are protected from downloading. It does have a bit of a learning curve but overall's user friendly.

PierreD states
"According to Smugmug's posted policy, photographers always retain the copyright to their photographs."
It could be quite possible that I missed that phrase in the Terms Of Use. There is however this paragraph in the TOU.

SUBMISSIONS

Visitor agrees as a condition of viewing, that any communication between Visitor and Website is deemed a submission. By making a submission, Visitor grants the administration and the owners of the Website a worldwide, non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free, sub-licenseable and transferable license to use in any way, reproduce and distribute the submission and prepare derivative works of the submission without further permission. This includes commercial and non-commercial use of all submissions, including portions thereof, graphics contained thereon, or any of the content of the submission. Visitor agrees to only communicate that information to the Website, which it wishes to forever allow the Website to use in any manner as it sees fit. "Submissions" is also a provision of the Privacy Policy.

This paragraph is why I very seldom post my photos on UHH. Not that my photos are that valuable or in demand but it is the principle of the thing.

Interesting to say the least. I believe somewhere in the previous comments it was indicated that you own the copyrights to your images. Correct me if I'm wrong. This clause appears to undermine the copyrights under a false pretense. I fully concur with your principles! I wonder if patrons of the website fully understand or have read this.

If you want to sell photos or prints thru SmugMug, you must have the level of service that is set up for e-commerce.

There are several photo printing services available through SmugMug. Pick the one you like... some are less expensive than others. All do great work. The client picks the photo, the media, the size, etc. and pays SmugMug. That order is then sent by SmugMug to the printing service. The printing service sends the completed work directly to the client. SmugMug pays the printer, keeps a nominal service fee, and, any profit is retained by SmugMug for you in your account. You can then decide when to get the money from SmugMug.

And, again, the SmugMug heroes will be more than happy to provide you with details on how this all works.

The Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 FL is superior to the old one. Sigma and Tamron can't touch it. I have the Tamron too.

To be fair, I've not matched that lens with my D750 but instead I have the Tamron G2 version and pleased with it as an inexpensive alternate. Curious though of disparity you indicate between the native Nikon glass and the Tamron. Please expound, thanks.

I have a Nikon 70-200 2.8 lens that has decided to stop autofocusing. Tried it on both my cameras and it just will not autofocus. All other lenses autofocus just fine.

Looking for a reputable Nikon service company to get it repaired.

I have found APS in Morton Grove Illinois. Does anyone have any experience with them or have a different repair place that you recommend?

Appreciate any help I can get.

Also, it is the 70 - 200 2.8 VR lens over 10 years old. Is it worth repairing? How is the Tamron or Sigma 70 - 200 2.8 lens?

Thanks

Will

Although considered a third party lens, I can assure you it is a worthy alternative 😎. I've owned it for approximately a year and have been pleased with it's rendering as I continue to grow with it. Ergonomics will always be a personal choice. Rent it and the Sigma for a weekend and let us know your opinion. Trust you've called Nikon for support. Seems like not to terrible an expensive fix. Hopefully fellow hedgehogs can weigh in.

I got this No.1A Folding Pocket Kodak from my dad who got it from his dad who bought it in 1910. Everything works (I'm nowhere near 110 and I already have things that don't work) and there are no light leaks in the bellows. Now if I could only find some film.

Vintage and period equipment 😎. Just a suggestion, maybe take measurements if not documented somewhere and cut to size sheet film in a dark room bag and construct your own film holder if the original or compatible can not be found. Have fun...... I'm envious 😎

First off, trust all hedgehogs, their families and loved ones are safe and well during this unprecedented quagmire we're experiencing πŸ™πŸΏπŸ™.

I've been entertaining giving Smugmug a try. Up to date research leaves me with a few questions. Are your pics protected from unauthorized downloads and does smugmug have a guideline for sales pricing so as not to undercut other photographers or is it at the photographer's discretion? Please weigh in if your experience will benefit, thank you.
Last but not least, continued good shooting hedgehogs 😎.
