The bridge collapse (Francis Scott Key Bridge) is a bridge across the Patapsco River in Baltimore. It is part of the I-695 "beltway" around the city. You could have used it previously, but you're more likely to be traveling in I-95 and use one of the two tunnels under the outer harbor. I rarely used the bridge. More often, the tunnel was my choice.

Traveled to Toronto in 2010 for first retirement trip: taking the train to the Canadian Rockies and then on to Vancouver.

Landed in Toronto. Officer asked us: I see you're here for 19 days. Why 19?

I told him I couldn't afford 20 days.

After traveling to the Rockies and getting off the train for our tours in Banff, Lake Louise, etc., we joined the train to Vancouver.

As we prepared to leave Vancouver airport, we met with U.S. Border officer.

Same basic questions - How long was your stay, where did you go, anything to declare, do you have more than $10,000 on you. After the last question, he looked at us and noted we were a married couple. "Ah, no, I guess you wouldn't have $10,000 on you. She wouldn't let you."

He chatted with the wife and got her to say that I was well behaved and she no longer had to beat me.

After that, he turned to me and said, "Sir, I am an officer of the court. As your wife has explained that she used to beat you, I can take this to court and get things straightened out." My wife's face went white until she saw his mouth beginning to grin.

It was a wonderful trip and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Definitely go on the Canadian side. I have been twice when I visited Toronto. Last time I went back in 2013, I took the tour BEHIND the falls. It's dark and you're kept back a safe distance, but you can shout the back side of the falls. There's also a lower deck outside close to the falls where you can shoot from a couple of different levels. Only issue I had was that the spray goes everywhere. The car parked in the lot got a spray on the windshield that was tough to remove. Car wash helped. I've now been under the falls, beside the falls and took the BRIEF helicopter ride over the falls. Take lots of pics.

No traction problem, but I got tired of plow pushing snow back in my driveway. So I try to preempt his efforts and clear the side of the road along the curb up to about 10 feet from my driveway, which would be the snow he would push my way. Less snow to plow, less snow in front of my drive.

Also got ticked off with my neighbor across the road whose friend with a plow on his truck pushed his snow to my side of the street and covered the sidewalk I already had cleared. The next snow I waited till he was done than aimed my chute to his driveway. So there!

Gee, I had heard recently that the Nigerian prince was found dead in his apartment, surrounded by piles of money he couldn't share as no one would reply to his emails.

Saw them live last year. What an entertaining group! The show went for two hours with only a short intermission. Well worth the time and money to see them.

Just checked US State Department website. Adult renewal (age 16 and older) is $110. If you only get the pass card - usable for Canada - it's only $30.

In 2013, our chorus went to Toronto to attend a convention. You either need a full passport or there's a cheaper version just for a few countries, like Canada and Mexico. It's a pass of sorts. But since 2001 you need a passport to travel to Canada. Also, if you have new electronics or cameras that you're taking, you can obtain a form to list your items and stop by the US Customs on your way to Canada to have it stamped. This is so you don't have to prove, once coming back to the US, that you didn't buy the items in Canada during your trip.

When I worked for a community newspaper, I used a 35mm film camera; I later used a 5MP digital Canon. After I retired, I purchased a Canon PowerShot SX20.

I also sing in two barbershop choruses and like to take non-flash pictures at conventions. Lighting onstage varies, as does my seating. I have used the Canon and the photos look fine through the viewfinder, but often look over-saturated by color on the LCD screen.

I'm looking at Nikon and Canon (or possibly others) with good low-light performance, quiet/silent usage, capable of burst photos with quick focus and great zoom capability. This would be my go-to camera for all situations, including travel as I plan a near-future trip to Ireland. Would appreciate your suggestions. I was looking at Nikon Coolpix cameras, but saw a review that the Canon PowerShot SX60hs was better than the Nikon. Ideas?
