Seeking lens advice.

I will always recommended this lens as a great walk around lens. Many will probably disagree due to the age but if you can pick up a Nikon 35-135 tele. Its is a great lens. It only stops down to 3.5 but imaging is tack sharp. it is also a micro lens and I bought mine as near new from B&H for 89.00. It will read exposure and auto focus on the D7200 With ease. It may not be what your looking for on this post but for 89 dollars you will not be sorry you bought it

Upgrade from D3400?

Hi there. Welcome to where all of us have been before!! If you have a dx now and some dx lenses I would recommend upgrading to a Dx but go with a D7100 or a D7200. either of these will be a great upgrade from what You have now and they will allow you to buy older full frame Nikon lenses for cheap that will auto focus and expose perfectly on this camera.this will also let you transition over to a full frame later on and already have lenses to use. I have a vase array of older af Nikon lenses and have not paid one than 89.00 for any of them the glass is great. It will allow you to realize the potential of that camera before you spend a bunch of money on something that you may never realize what it can really do. That;s my 2 cents worth. I shoot with all old lenses. Look for my pics there as good as anyone shooting with thousand dollar glass. Good luck in what ever you decide..

Thank you to everyone who has commented so far. for the record every thing here was shot with a Nikon D750 the two macros were taken with an old AF Nikon 60 mm micro lens and the rest were shot with Sigma 15 - 500 mm telephoto.

That's exactly where this picture was taken last weekend. I was back there yesterday and counted 15 babies the owl was taken there also off in the cypress swamps.
