The noise is audio noise produced by the auto gain control turning up the gain during quiet parts of the filming.

Thanks Jimmy, the Shure VP83F is the same mic with a built in recorder and cost an additional hundred dollars.

One of the options that I have seen is the Shure VP83F LensHopper Shotgun Mic that can record to the camera and its buit in recorder. But I am confused over the many different mics available; don't know which way to go.

Looking for advice on a external mic for the T5i. I am trying to get rid of the internal noise that the T5i creates in the video mode.
