It is a 2.8 and I am taking a tripod due to the weight. I hate having to set up and not move around but the pictures I am taking in the morning are not that important. Good time to experiment.
I just got a Cannon EF 70-200 L and I am going to work with that for the first time tomorrow. We will see how that goes :) I am just worried about distance with it. I would like to be able to do some closer shots but I will see about where I can stand in the arena with it.
Suggest a one for me that you think would do the job?
Most riding arenas will not let you use a flash. Some will let you ask each rider if their horse will tolerate a flash. We have lost competitions because our horse stopped at a jump for a flash, not fun! So what kind of lens would you suggest for an "inside job". I have a couple of lenses I would be able to sell to buy a new one, so I am open to suggestion.
I have the same problem at horse shows. Although we cannot use a flash. Low light and moving objects is hard. I would rather not have the blurry legs but the non flash thing creates quite a problem.
Thanks! What about shutter speed, would you adjust that too?
I have a great time taking pictures cross country but I have always had a hard time photographing action shots inside. The arena is not well lit. Of course jumping and running horses are fast action, if they do it correctly :). I have a Canon T3i and I use a 28-135mm lens because of the close-far pictures of a jumping course. How would you set your camera for such a lowlight action shot. I always end up with a lot of useless shots.
