I too require advise on similar lines. I have 6D and selling it now as my 7D Mark II gave me excellent results (outdoor and indoor)
During my recent visit to Ajanta Caves (1800-2000 year old) paintings in India where everyone using flash light to view the paintings, where as I was able take clear snaps with canon 7D markII (and Sigma 17-55) and it suited my twitching fingers on shutter clicks

Where as 6D was okay more or less, I have to more careful in clicking or else it would give out of focus

May be the number of focus points is the deal breaker?

As I might need a full frame, what would be canon model for me?

I am only a hobbyst (not a professional). but has GAS

Still I also could not get the right clarification. As to myself
when I tried to take moon shots, crop camera(SL1) gave good sharp pictures over the full frame camera(6D), using the same lens (sigma 150-500 at 500mm)

It might show when requiring to focus a center point of an object, crop may be better? as would provide maximum magnification 500x 1.6? on the lens itself?

Phone cameras will replace P&S camera for sure as I have a few which I do not use.
But to shoot moon/low light situation/sports/bird life or wide angle shots etc. etc. DSLR is a must I do not know how it will be re-placed by phone camera

It all depends on money and purpose.

It depends on how frequently you want to use the lens. If not frequent and if it works okay within the warrantee period, then no thing will go wrong

I do not want to use cloud storage.
I have more than 1 TB of photo and video files from last 30 years and it would take lot of time to back up or re-store from cloud.
Storing on home server on RAID or 2- drives is good for me. As I store in folders year wise. It is easy to retrieve.

I am waiting for affordable SSD in TB range to switch over from normal hard drices

As we are not assembling the camera, manual reading is not mandatory except to check some minor items (for eg. how to put the strap on) . Also to check any additional features that you may never use but to feel happy that you spent extra money for these features

Me too.

We decided to wait before buying our first house in USA. But we happened to listen our friend mentioning about a house near by. We went there next day noon and signed on same day evening.

Is it some chemical (Dopamine?) that drives this?

I am too impulsive to agonize over things like that. When buying our first house, many years ago, my wife and I shopped Saturday morning and half a day Sunday before putting a binder down to have a house built. We went to contract Wednesday.

When moving to Delaware, friends we were visiting over Christmas planned on us going house shopping. Never happened as we bought one on the way there.

Boats, cameras, etc,. are the same. Once I decide I am going to buy, I buy. That's not saying there is no agonizing over putting the money together to buy something. Once that's handled it doesn't take long.

I never knew what branded Flashes can do.
But Yonguo flash I bought for less than $70 worked well for my indoor photos, with my canon cameras and also worked okay with another off brand remote

Wasabi or similar branded is better than a spurious duplicate Canon or Nikon batteries.

I bought a spurious Canon battery which did not fit right the compartment and I had to pry it out with tweezers.
But the seller was good enough to return the money

IMHO-If really require to replace, F2.8 lens would be good
eg. I am very happy with Sigma 17-50 F2.8 and F2.8 is the main spec. that helps me in low light.
