Welcome, quirkel
I have the Rebel XSi and when I want to change the metering mode I just press the 'up' arrow on the cross keys. Metering Mode will appear then just use the 'up' or 'down' key to select 'spot metering' then press 'set'. Good luck-hope this helps.

rebelshooter,

Thanks for that, I knew there had to be a spot metering function on the Rebel somewhere.

Eric

Glad I could help

"Dancing Crystals" taken through my window last year during a blizzard. Previously posted...but sharing again. (Ribboned at the NE State Fair.)

"Frosty Pump" was one of my first attempts at PS editing. Need to try it again...I see the flaws now, but wanted to share anyway.

Your dancing crystals are just perfect! Thanks for sharing these!

Ian, your 2nd, 3rd and 4th shots look like they were taken from above the clouds. I can see myself jumping from a plane and landing right on them! Did you shoot these from a plane or were you on the ground? What lens did you use? And do you ever use the camera that is in your avatar?

A couple of froggies and a new addition to my aquarium

I know it rude to post pictures on someone elses thread without asking first. The topic of High jacking, and posting your pictures is taboo. If you want to show your pictures start your own thread.
Clearly a lot of new people do not realize it. Typically they are the ones who do it, Myself included when I was new.

So I ask is this an open thread? You did not state that at the beginnig , buy you appear to be alright with others pictures making comments on them. Usually when a person" High jacks" most people ignored them.

Please advise, what type of thread you have..... and new people please take note.

Being a 'new people' and now guilty of high-jacking, I apologize-I am quite embarrassed. I certainly didn't mean to offend. This is the first forum I have ever joined in my life, and I read all the Forum Rules before I even signed up. I was not aware of this 'thread etiquette', if that would be the correct lingo. Perhaps newbies could be made aware of this in a personal message sent directly to the offender? Or better yet, maybe there should be an entry on high-jacking under the Forum Rules? I would probably be a repeat offender, had I not returned to this post and read this warning. I will make sure to ask the original poster in the future, now that I know how it's done. I only wanted to have a little fun here and gain some knowledge, not to upset or offend anyone.

We have regular frost in the fall and then in the spring, we are apt to get frozen fog which coats everything and looks like a fairyland.
