So what does the e-sim do?

Nothing magical about an eSIM. It is merely a better method than using the small SIM cards of the past.

But, any eSIM/sim is used to identify your phone to a provider.. so your real question should be: " what provider do I want for international travel?" Might be your current provider as mentioned.

The trip home from a local race track usually takes just under an hour using my favorite route. One day last fall I decided to let my car's GPS guide the way. The general direction I wanted to go was northeast, but it directed me to a highway going southeast for many miles, then onto some little neighborhood roads barely wide enough for two cars to pass, eventually putting me on some roads I finally recognized near home. The total time was about 20 minutes longer than my usual route. Yes, GPS is wonderful....

I think that's more a function of the maps being used on your particular GPS. I have had an Auto GPS send me around a "mile square of roads" when there was a perfectly good road connecting the start of the square. Something in the map said that part of the road was accessible.

I've more or less given up on Prime TV - too many ads now.

It's interesting. I wanted to watch "Thelma and Louise" and found it for $3.95 on several sources but for free on Roku (with ads). Ok, so I tried Roku and it had only 2 interruptions with ads for about a minute each. Well worth using Roku.

. And there is also Prime TV, which is probably worth $5-8 per month.

And also Amazon Music which I'm using more and more.

I don't know if this is something new, but you can become a Walmart Member for just $98 a year. Why would you want to do that? You could save $1,300 a year! I don't have the details, and I'm not interested enough to look.

I recently needed to buy a car battery from Walmart and was pleased that I could use "drive thru pickup" and wouldn't have to go into the store. Sure enuff, there was a numbered parking spot and I phoned in my arrival. Soon a gal came out with a wagon with the battery on it. I asked if she could also take my trade-in so I could avoid the "core charge". "Oh no, you'll have to go in the store for that!" Due to the parking congestion, I decided to do that on another trip and I still have the trade-in...

I bought this chair from Amazon and have been very happy with it. All the reviewers seem to like it as well.

All well and good, but even Ham Radio will not normally connect you to basic emergency services (Fire, Law Enforcement, etc.) during a cell phone outage. Sure you can talk to other Ham operators. Yes many disaster services use Ham Radio Operators when needed during major disasters so take that into consideration. There are many "Ham" clubs around and may offer help getting a license for low cost or free.

Almost every area of the country has coverage with ham repeaters that can connect to the phone network. True, the phone networks may be down but in that case, place a ham in the emergency HQ and connect/relay with many other hams.

I had a V5000 and it did a so-so job for many years. But now I have a VTech 5 phone system that has smart blocking. It gives you two options: 1). Every unknown caller that calls is told that they have to hit # for the call to be put through.. 2). They have to announce themselves and then the system will play that announcement for you and you can accept or reject the call. I use (1) and it seems to stop all spam calls yet allows valid calls with a human to hit #. I can't remember my last spam call. But I also use 1-voip.com as my voip provider ( about $12/mon and they route calls through nomorobo which filters a few, but not many spam calls. I have no stake in any products mentioned.

Should also mention that the VTech system has the usual ALLOW/BLOCK lists so you can let known callers get thru without the #

I read an article that said the problem is that road contracts always go to the lowest bidder. That if they paid some 20% more.. The road would last at least twice as long. Seems like a no brainer but of course, we're dealing with.... <fill in the blank>

And they couldn't feed them lobster more than a couple days a week because it was considered "cruel and unusual punishment "

What do you do or say, when

an innocent child asks you something completely innocent

and they are so serious? These have to be original and

genuine - no adult is this creative.

MELANIE (age 5) asked her Granny how old she was. Granny

replied she was so old she didn't remember any more.

Melanie said, 'If you don't remember you just look in the

back of your panties. Mine say five to six.'

BRITTANY (age 4) had an ear ache and wanted a pain killer

She tried in vain to take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her

frustration, her Mom explained it was a child-proof cap

and she'd have to open it for her. Eyes wide with wonder,

the little girl asked, 'How does it know it's me?'

SUSAN (age 4) was drinking juice when she got the hiccups

'Please don't give me this juice again,' she said, 'It makes

my teeth cough.'

DJ (age 4) stepped onto the bathroom scale and asked,

'How much do I cost?'

MARK (age 4) was engrossed in a young couple that were

hugging and kissing in a restaurant. Without taking his

eyes off them, he asked his dad: 'Why is he whispering

in her mouth?'

TAMMY (age 4) was with her mother when they met an

elderly, rather wrinkled woman her Mom knew. Tammy

looked at the older lady for a while and then asked

'Why doesn't your skin fit your face?'

JAMES (age 4) was listening to a Bible story. His dad read: '

The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee

out of the city but his wife looked back and was turned

to salt.' Concerned, James asked, 'What happened to the flea?'

CHARLOTTE (age 5) was the only young girl taking a karate

course with a class of little boys. One night after a karate

session her father noticed she was limping in pain. When

he asked what was wrong, she replied, 'I think I got kicked

in the nuts.'

This particular Sunday sermon...

'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward

heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face, 'Without

you, we are but dust...' He would have continued but at that

moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned

over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four- year-

old-girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'
