The snow certainly is a far cry from what we saw in the middle of summer. These are beautiful images Bob and I did check out the rest of your posts. All of them are truly beautiful especially the falls. I haven't been here on the site at all in weeks so I was glad for the heads up. I hope all your family is well. Have a Merry Christmas.

Good evening Andrea, Loving your Beartooth Pass pictures! We were unable to get up to the heights you achieved due to snow arriving & in a couple of areas because of some of the fires. We could smell smoke at one point. But......your pictures are beautiful & peaceful! Your deer shot is also wonderful! Great camera! Will check more of these Montana later....since it's now 12:35AM & I work at 9AM!! Goodnight!! Bob

Thank you again Bob for checking these out. I felt extremely lucky to have captured the deer and she is very heavily cropped. But then again that is my best lens so it lends itself to cropping this way. I hate that you were not able to drive over Beartooth because as you can see it was an absolutely beautiful drive. I loved every bit of it. I am not surprised the snow came early this year. There was still a lot up there at the end of July when I was there.

Hi Andrea, Love these pictures......especially 4 & 5.....The reflection of the bridge forming a circle is clever! And then those large boulders with the mist are quite stunning. I'm still working on my Canadian topics. Have a couple more to get around to before starting my Montana shots. Trying to space things out in between working full time! Becomes a challenge or at times....some very late nights! I'm going to recheck some of your Montana entries to see if I recognize some of the places you went. Later......Bob

Bob, thank you for looking in at these pics. I am sorry for the delayed response but I literally have not been back here on UHH in nearly two weeks. I have been crazy busy at work and doing portrait shoots on the weekends. Makes for a very busy life. I do appreciate your thoughtful responses and I am eager to see what you find in my Montana posts.

I would be tickled to get wildlife pictures this good Diane. Your 300mm looks like it was plenty and I am sure it was a lot less weight to carry. These are beautiful images.

Those first images show the last of the storm moving out and we had mostly sunny days for the next week until the last two days of the 12-day trip--pretty lucky considering the time of year. While there are scenes that benefitted from mist or storm clouds, I have to admit I was glad when we started getting more sunshine!

How are the autumn colors down your way? WNC is finally coming into color now. I still hope to get to Babcock SP and New River Gorge one of these days--I've been working on all the falls and scenics I'd like to visit on an over-nighter to the area. Missed the color this year, but maybe next?

BTW, Dan and I went down to SC recently and took the roads you and I used to go to Saluda, and darned if we didn't get onto the wrong road again. I think there is a sign either missing, differently names, or poorly located that's throwing things off. We even used the Garmin.

Colors out this way were mostly nonexistent this year. The little we did get were blown off the trees over the past couple of weeks. I went to New River Gorge the first weekend in October and haven't done much since. Sydney's cousin got married a couple weeks ago so we were busy with that and then the last couple of weekends have been especially awful for personal reasons.

Another great set Diane. I really do like the light in the first three and the clouds behind the mountains make a nice canvas for the snow covered peaks.

This is one of my favorite locations to shoot as I only live about 40 minutes from the mill. I have never converted one to b&w but after seeing this I might have to try it. This is really nice. I like the tonal range you have in this image.

Hi Andrea! It did turn out to be a very productive trip despite the occassional snow showers and COLD temps. The autumn colors in Grand Teton at the iconic locations were minimal, but the overall itinerary provided some nice pockets here and there--especially going up the snake river corridor between Hoback Jnct. and Swan Valley. The one thing I missed out on was shooting the Milky Way--the sky just didn't clear enough during the nights without a moon. I did put the D750 to good use on this trip and have decided to sell the cropped sensor equipment. I plan to pack light from now on if I continue to travel cross country and, once I found a way to carry the FF in my old arm sling so that it doesn't weigh on my neck or swing loose and throw me off balance, the weight isn't an issue so much anymore.
P.S. Remember the picture of Sidney in dance garb that you said wouldn't be considered technically correct? I came across an excellent article on DPS with examples showing why that would be a very GOOD capture. If I can find it again, I'll send you the link.

It is a shame you didn't get another shot at the milky way but you certainly got some great images from what I have seen so far.
I would be very interested in reading the article you mentioned if you come across it and thank you for thinking of me. I am actually considering entering that picture in a contest here locally.

I have really enjoyed seeing both sets you have posted so far. I think I have to pick a favorite from this set and it is #6. When I look at it the clouds appear to be moving behind the old barn.

I was wondering when you were making this trip. It looks as though you saw some good fall colors. I look forward to seeing more from your travels.

Beautiful images Andrea and certainly worth the effort of getting up early and driving so far.

Thank you Vicki for your nice comments. You are so right about it being worth getting up early and driving. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I love the opportunity to shoot in the early morning light.
