Lourdes, I just came back from a week in Denali and a week cruising. Wonderful trip! I carried my 18 - 55mm and my 55 - 200 with my D5200. I used them in about equal parts. I wish I had a longer lens that went out to 300 or 400 - animals in the park and whales on the cruise are usually a long way off. What you have should be fine. I brought along a tripod. There's usually no time to set things up while on tours. It stayed in my room most of the time. Enjoy!

Mike, First wonderful pictures. Nice composition, exposer spot on.
Second, I'm going to Alaska on vacation next summer and I was wondering what lens you would recommend for my Nikon D-5200. I'll be flying into Fairbanks, spending time in Denali, then cruising the coast. My longest lens is a Nikkor 55-200mm 1.4-5.6G.

In the late 70's I went on a photo expedition to the Tsavo National Forest in Kenya. I did not have a long lens with me. (In those days I was lucky to be able to afford my Nikon Photomic F camera.) I missed many great photographic opportunities because of my lack of reach. Tsavo is big . . . really big. Alaska is big. I don't want to make the same mistake twice. To answer your question, I don't know what I'll be shooting, but I want to be prepared and the experience of photographers like yourself is invaluable. -- Ole

I'll be taking a trip to Alaska in June of 2015 and I'm looking for advise about getting a telephoto lens for my Nikon D-5200. Currently my longest lens is a Nikon DX 55-200mm 1.4-5.6 G zoom. Cost is a factor. I'm willing to spend the money but I would like to keep the cost down. -- Ole

Thanks to both Frapa and Morning Star for your help. I'm pretty new to this technology. I'm trying to play catch-up from my 35 mm and darkroom days. Ole

My Photoshop Elements 10 worked fine with RAW files from my old Nikon D 3000 but won't recognize RAW files from my new D 5200. Is there something I'm doing wrong with either the camera or Elements 10 or do I need to upgrade to Elements 12? -- Ole
