If you're uncomfortable, you're not going to get very good photos. Both parties have to feel at ease for it to really be good...

I strongly recommend to not overlook the Fisher Tower/Castle Valley area. Think of the scenery in old western movies, and that's the backdrop. Also my favorite area is the Needles section of Canyonlands about 70 miles south of Moab. The difference between Island in the Sky and the Needles is night, and day, and you can't go wrong with either. They're just the opposite of each other.

Make sure you are at the locations you really want to photograph early, before sunrise and after, as well as before sunset and after. In the red rock country, nothing you can do in the day compares to the results you'll get at the golden hour. To do that I believe you should be on your own...

Or you could go with the old Nikon zoom Trifecta:

20-35
35-70
80-200

All 2.8 and way less expensive, yet great glass and solid lenses...

As a side note, the piano player's daughter (age 21) went missing mid-October. She went hiking alone. After a while the search was called off. Her body was recently found at the base of a cliff, and her funeral was held November 21.

Not so sure you missed the boat, but does get one thinking. Those stairs werein the category and I am wondering if you even cropped just a segment of lines (like in the buildings) if they would be more abstract. But "so it goes" we aren't strict around here and regardless, the images were wonderful.

Thank you

Love your use of lines. I'm no art major. Dictionary says "abstract" = relating to or involving general ideas or qualities rather than specific people, objects, or actions
of art : expressing ideas and emotions by using elements such as colors and lines without attempting to create a realistic picture. This is a pretty broad definition. Do your fall into this category - I don't know, but I certainly do like the lines.

Yes, I think you're right with your definition "abstract", I missed the boat, the key phrase being "without attempting to create a realistic picture"

I relate, I also have been playing around with what I call, movement. I've used, like you longer shutter speeds, or camera movement, or from a moving platform. Always handheld. It's fascinating the potential looks you can create doing this.

You said, " Example, you're shooting with flash indoors... If you're using flash, then why don't you set your WB to flash, or auto, that's what I do when using flash indoors.

As LED lighting is gaining popularity (I have zero incandescent or halogen lights in my home), what is the correct white balance settings? Example, you're shooting with flash indoors and would set the WB to tungsten or florescent. What about LED lighting?
