Heres the deal: When you put a standard lens on most dSLR cameras, the available frame area is reduced, as if you took a picture on a camera that uses 35mm film negatives and then cropped it. It is best to not frame the shot real tight in the viewfinder or monitor because some of what you see will be cut away in the actually finished shot.

Hi Guys I am new to digital photography. Purchased a New Canon EOS 70D Digital SLR Camera & EF-S 18-55mm & 55-250mm IS STM Lens . Considered myself a pretty good intermediate slr photographer. I feel overwhelmed . Basic things seem difficult with the camera and lens. i.e..throwing background out of focus even at the widest aperture ? Any suggestions.
