Use the search feature at the top of this page; there are dozens of threads on this topic in this forum.

This subject has been hashed and rehashed and covered ad nauseam.

There are people who think protective lenses will save them from replacing the front element of their expensive lenses... when in REAL life, even the CHEAPEST plastic lens is harder than the best protective filter. That means that the filter is NOT protecting the lens, but it IS increasing flare and ghosting and decreasing contrast in the process.

Very few people need a UV filter on digital cameras, and they provide as little protection as so called protective filters do wile also increasing distortion.

Now there will come the usual tirades about how a protective filter saved this lens during a fall or that lens when the sand was blowing, and that you can't tell the difference in image quality between a filtered or non-filtered lens. Blah, blah, blah.

I am a scientist and apocryphal tales abound... ESPECIALLY among people who don't understand cause and effect relationships.

Use a filter if you wish. It's just a waste of money and effort and does NOT protect your lens, especially when a lens hood and common sense precautions work 10 times better without degrading image quality.

Amen, but there will still be 15 pages arguing for and against them!! If someone thinks they need protective filters go out and spend the $$$ and see what they do for protection or your photographs!!

Strange that a D7100 needs an update already! I was going to do an update on one of my D7000s that I've had for 3 years and it told me my firmware was up to date! Possible my update is as far as it will go on this camera---don't know??

Wouldn't the bubbles be stronger if you used some of that Super Bubble mixture?? I think it involved mixing Karo syrup with bubble mix---they used dish washing soap. Anyone know what I'm referring to??

Use the Tamron 18-270 on one camera and a Nikon 50mm, 1.8 for those ultra sharp shots on the other!! Shoot 2 D7000s and this combo works great for me!!

Beautiful photo with great color which sets each other off!! The one thing I would do is to do something with the vacant sky. Not sure if you're into PP but with the bright layers of color the photo seems to me to stop at the horizon!! Would put some color in that sky---IMO!!

For correcting in camera, do you have buckets for more than one lens?
I shoot D7000s and you can adjust up to 10 different lens in camera. I'm sure a D800 or any higher end Nikon camera must have this same adjustment!!

It will suck in the light!! F2.8's can't hold a candle to a 1.8 for lowlight shooting.

Again, if you have a camera with a focusing motor in it, go with the 50D. Remember, too, that the lens will give you the field of view of a 75mm lens. It will be a little too long to shoot family dinners, but that length will be good for overall shooting.
You don't need a camera with a focusing motor in it as the 50mm, 1.8 has it's motor in the lens!! It's one of the sharpest lens in my bag and is usually on one of my D7000s with my zoom on the other!! Buy it, you won't be disappointed and you'll learn how to use you legs as a zoom with this prime lens!!

Make sure when you open the Imageomatic you open the Community Edition you open it with the one with the square box in front of it!! That's the one I use and haven't played with the rest because that one has worked just fine for me!! Good luck in your journey and hope it works out for you!!

Much better, thank you so much. I will try to download Imagenomic.
Would you mind working on the other two?
No problem---here are the other two. Remember you have different levels of noise reduction and if you want to add a little sharpening after the noise removal it will sharpen it but don't over sharpen!!

I really wouldn't worry about it---you don't have to have it hit 100% to apply your fixes!! I've done mine as low as 67% and all fixes are perfect!! Now it sounds like you've gotten the new version as mine is the old stand alone version that was free until ONOne Software combined Portrait Professional, Smart Photo Editor and a B&W enhancement program into a bundle. Have heard some bad things about that but have never played with it myself.

Here is one I did using Imagenomic---Noiseware Community Edition which is free. I used full suppression which will take a bit of sharpness away and downsize your ppi count but you can choose how much you need to use on any particular photo!! This can easily be made into a 8x10 W/O any problem---249 ppi.......
