I can't confirm, but there is seldom a time when there are not multiple climbers on the monolith.
Yosemite is one of my favorite places on earth. I can't imagine what Ansel Adams felt, experiencing it without the crowds. He probably thought "someone aught to take a picture of this."
The second time around can be just as nice.
