Hello, I'm new to the Ugly Hedgehog forum and joined mainly to learn a little about photo sizing. I am not a photo whiz and probably never will be but, I enjoy fooling around with it at times. I have taken on a project to produce a photo directory for my church. I have purchased a membership database developed by a local individual and the database has the capability of inserting family photos and then creating a directory. I have fooled around with it a little bit but, before I do a "real" directory I have a few questions that I hope you can help with. If this is not the place to ask these questions please direct me to the correct forum.

My software developer suggests I make all photos using 200 pixels minimum up to 300 pixels maximum. I'm sure my small camera (Panasonic DMC-ZS8) will do that but, how do I know what setting to use or is it really that important. I then need to resize and crop the photos. The developer's instructions are; "At 200 pixels/inch resolution, the pictures should be 450 pixels wide by 375 pixels high and at 300 pixels/inch resolution, the pictures should be 675 pixels wide by 563 pixels high. I am a little lost now. I have been using Microsoft Office to resize and crop the photos. Your help is appreciated. Roy
