It is regrettable that some people will never accept this [documented and verified] action as leading to speciation.

Those who believe in the ‘creation’ ethos will probably never accept the verification of the scientific method and the proof of evolution and speciation over time.

The creationists and biblical adherents refuse to accept demonstrable reality.

Faith without evidence is always more powerful than facts. Don't waste your breath or your typing fingers on such folks who have swallowed whole the propaganda. {Remember 400 years ago folks were tortured and burnt at the stake for holding the opinion that the earth traveled around the sun.}

You guys need to quit these attacks and stick to rational discourse. If you disagree with someone calling him/her names is 5th grade playground behavior. I assume most on this site are adults !!!!

Trivia question: What are the only two fruits that place their seeds on the outside of the fruit? The answer is cashews and strawberries.

lol That’s not what you said Dipshit. Besides, I don’t need science to explain the sunset.

It is astounding to me on this site how rapidly "some" quickly resort to making their arguments by ad hominem attacks and invective Surely as photographers we are sophisticated enough to make our point without trying to insult each other. - As for this subject, I await the non-faith based scientific proof of the existence of a diety.

There are only two positions. 1) all religions are wrong. 2) 'All religions are wrong except one. // The history of mankind is splattered with wars, torture; abuse; nightmare behavior on the part of each religion determined to "prove" that it is the "ONE".

The. only morally acceptable position if one believes that the unborn is a life like anyone having been born, is that abortion should be forbidden in ALL cases- no exceptions allowed. Any exceptions invalidate the whole concept so the mother's life, rape, incest, IVF all are "life" and any exceptions are immoral.

I agree - the brain is complex beyond current understanding. For instance consider the letter "A". Where is it found in the brain? How is it coded-chemical? electrical? We don't have a clue about this simple fact let alone the more complex aspects of brain function including the brain's supervision of continuous activity in the body like heart beating, lung function, intestinal activity, etc. It is way beyond our current knowledge.

There is an Arthur Clark short story in which a satellite with memory chip is launched successfully. After a few moments all contact with all satellites is lost. The reason, the last launch completed enough memory for the satellites to function independently as a brain and no longer needed human input.

I believe there is a bias for humans when regarding a computer.

Can an Octopus think? Most folks would say yes.
A computer can match an octopus...yet...we don't want to give it the same regard as the Octopus.

The computer Eugene seems to have passed the Turing test...and if it doesn't...other will soon enough.
The advancement of computers is not linear...computers will surpass us at some point.

Computers with AI will always exceed us in repetitive tasks or those requiring large data bases (Watson on Jeopardy for instance)- But the only way to develop creativity is to put in some sort of random generator with a testing program- but that will be random and very unlikely to create anything new.

I'm not a fan of killing folks. So I being an expert shot I would take out both of this guys knees and then he is alive for us to figure out why he threatened us and he will be crippled for the rest of his life as a constant reminder of his outrageous behavior.

Has anyone tried this popcorn popper? Gets high raves from infomercials. I’m interested but have been quite disappointed with a few gadgets in the past.

I have acquired a collapsable silicon popper. Pops great in microwave usually 1 minute and 36 seconds which fills it up and the bowl is used as is. Then storage is when it is collapsed. I have gotten rid of all my older poppers as this one beats them all.

Warby Parker entered the eyeglass market with good pricing and quality. Now that they have been around a while their pricing has rapidly increased and the quality has dropped. Very disappointing.

My local doctor is once again being taken over by another conglomerate, Northwell Health. Just by coincidence, that company made the local headlines today.

"Northwell Health, set to become Nuvance parent company, fined over $1M for deceptive advertising, AG’s office says."

Private medicine is being taken over by bean counting vulture capitalists who know nothing of health but are only interested in generating cash for themselves. It is ruining medicine gradually but completely. There needs to be a legislative remedy before the only reliable doctors are at academic medical centers.
