I have recently bought Photoshops and Premiere elements 2020 with that same thought in mind but haven’t spent enough time with them to decide to do away with my subscription yet.

I, too, use Premiere Pro, but I chose it because I already used Lightroom and Photoshop. I did look At Final Cut. I certainly could have used Gene51’s classes, but managed to muddle through making a promotional hunting video from clips from various video cameras that was shown at sports shows on a TV in our booth. I, of course, bought a book on the subject, and with it and u-tube, was much happier with what I made than what we paid good money for. The more you use it, the more you realize what it can do. Good Luck!

After many many months of comparisons, I've narrowed my choices to two Leicas: the V-lux 114 Type or the D-lux 7. Both meet my needs for the types of photography, the image quality I want and the lighter weight that I need at age 82. Does anyone think I'm crazy? Go ahead, I won't be offended. (Snide comments not welcome.) Thanks for helping.

I bought a V-lux 114 for a trip to Africa and absolutely love it. I especially like the viewfinder. I wear glasses. The zoom was fine for me, make sure it is enough for what you want. I like everything about this camera. (I have a Sony RX 100 III and Canon EOS Mark 7 II. My Leica is my go to camera. (I carry my camera on my wrist in a cloth bag when I’m out - easy to get to quickly and bag small enough to stay on wrist. Have a nice trip!

There's a YouTube channel run by a man named Jose Rodriguez aka JToolman who has 100's of videos on the use and care of printers. Especially Canon & Epson. He also runs a Facebook page for fine art and photography ink jet printing, under the same name. Extremely helpful. He highly recommends the X-Rite and their Color Monki for display and or print calibration. Really worth checking him out as a valuable and free source.

Been looking at the color Monki. I always look at the bad reviews first, but it seems that if I can figure the program out it is the one preferred. There don't seem to be many available, and while certainly not cheap, it is, at least, affordable. Tonite I will start looking at his videos. Especially glad to hear of him as I haven't gotten far enough to figure how to turn printing preferences on my printer off so Lightroom and Photoshop do the deciding. (I assume this is what I am shooting for.)
Thank you.

Jessie, for some photos [thin yellows and reds especially] i use Redriver ... as the ad says, "Polar Pearl Metallic features the same aspects as its lab equivalent - a high gloss finish and a pearlescent base stock that yields an elegant iridescence in your images." and indeed it does...wow

Thanks for links, exactly what I needed. I will also try red river paper, several have recommmended it, also.

I do appreciate your taking the time to get this info to me.

I have a MacBook Pro with retina screen and a Canon PIXMA Pro 9000 printer. What do I need and how to I go about doing it.

I will appreciate any and all suggestions on getting started.

I assume I need some software (what do you suggest), paper for photos (have been using glossy) and that's all I know.

thanks, Jessie

I took a meFOTO Back Packer Travel Tripod to Africa last year, in my carry on suitcase. I did use it, with a Leica V-Lux Type 114 camera. My Canon 7d Mark 2 is not much heavier and would work fine on this. I was looking for a tripod that would fit in suitcase and not weigh much and this one certainly fit the bill. Have a nice trip. My question is, after we die and nobody pays for creative cloud anymore do all of those photos go back to their original look if they were never exported with changes

I had something like that one time and it was related to Lightroom mobile and syncing.
Turned that off and my computer started working like it is supposed to. Hope you find your problem. Jessie

I've not seen a lot on this subject on UHH before. When I was younger, my eyesight was a lot better. Now that I'm in my sixties, the viewfinder has taken on far greater importance--if I can't see my subject, what's the fun of trying to take good pictures?

For me, at least, a good viewfinder (digital or otherwise) has become an absolute must. How do you feel about cameras you've shot, and is excellence in viewfinder design, magnification, percent of coverage, etc., important to you?

I have a Canon Rebel T5i and Sony RX 100 3, got Leica V-Lux Type 114 for a trip and now only use it--because of the viewfinder. If the sun is really bright I cannot see through the canon and sony, but the Leica is, to me, fabulous. Mainly because of the viewfinder! Good luck with your choice. I agree, I never imagined a viewfinder would make such a difference.

Please forgive me if you're not referring to the same "adapters" I was. Specifically, there are two adapters for inputting images INTO an iPad with a lightning port at one end of each: one has a USB 2.0 terminus and the other reads SD cards. Even if you brought both, their weight and size combined is minuscule!

No, I was referring to the new MacBook with only 1 port that would need adapters for my backups, card readers, etc. not the iPad. In fact, I just bought the card reader adaptor for iPad only to find that my generation 4 iPad is too old to use it on. At this point the only thing I am certain about is upgrading to a smaller and definitely new iPad. Thanks for your attention to my questions.

Good topic Jessie. Have the same problem. Took my 5lb laptop on a three week trip in January and backpack got real heavy with full frame camera and lenses. Looking at 9.7" iPad Pro with 32GB to keep cost down. Resolution is good at 264 ppi and at least I'll be able to tell whether the shot was any good. Only problem more work at home with editing but if I shoot properly then there shouldn't be much editing. Interested in seeing what you decision will be. .....George

It's nice to hear of someone else in the same boat. We'll learn together. So far the only real progress I think I can make will being get rid of my old iPad in exchange for mini 4. Haven't seen anything so far that betters my lot by getting new computer. But hearing great new info on options.
