It seems to me that somewhere I read about a complaint that the Canon wireless remotes only work from in front of the camera. That is where the sensor is. The suggestion was that if you want to use it behind the camera, you need to get a wired remote. Worth trying anyway. Good luck!
I can't speak to Chicago camera stores, but in Maine I have been trying to purchase from Photo Market and/or Hunts when I can. I agree that if we don't support our local stores, they will be gone along with valuable expertise.
Thanks Allen and Lighthouse! Excellent article. It really showed what you were both talking about.

Hi Alan,
Thanks for the extensive analysis of wide angle lenses. This was very helpful. I broke down and got the Canon 10-22. Thank goodness for credit cards. One question, my lens didn't come with a hood, should I order one? I am planning to use a polarizer on it and can't figure out how I would turn it with the tulip type of hood. I use a rubber hood on my other lenses for this reason. It also seemed that I was asking for a lot of vignetting on this lens when using a hood. What do you think?
Thanks again,
Mark
Thank you everyone for your excellent suggestions. I was hoping not to take my laptop to Italy, but it looks like the best/safest way to go. I like the Ipad route, but I don't have enough memory to make it work. As suggested, I will also buy a portable drive for additional back up.
This will be the trip of a lifetime and I expect to take a ton of photos and cannot afford to lose any. I am currently trying to figure out how many memory cards to buy for the two week trip. I would rather not erase them until I get home (as suggested) so I would have three backups, but am not sure how many cards I would need. I am going to shoot in Raw and J-PEG.
BTW, Best Buy is having a sale on Memory cards though Sat. - A 32GB SanDisk Extreme SDHC is $39.99 each ($97.99 normal price). I thought this was a decent price for a fairly fast card.
Thanks again for your input,
Mark
Thanks Bill,
Your pictures are awesome! You capture the automobile as art and that is what I am striving for.
Thanks again,
Mark
Thanks Jeep Daddy! I think that I will want to change the background on some photos (your update looks very cool)
but I also want to just get rid of some distractions and leave the surroundings. This photo might be a bad example, but with the photo of the roadster with the flame job, I would like to just get rid of the two people walking by.
Thanks again,
Mark
Thank you everyone for your great responses. I am evaluating everyones input and I'm sure I will be able to pick a product now. Then of course i will have more questions...
Thank you,
Mark
Thanks everyone for the great advice. I was hoping to leave the laptop at home, but think that will be the best way to go. Will buy a portable hard drive and extra cards.
Thanks again!
