Which image do you like best? These two shots were taken a few seconds apart, but I was using a zoom lens and the first shot was taken at 324 mm and the second at 151 mm. Both shots were taken with a Canon R6 at SS 1/200 (to capture the rain drops), ISO 2500, f/7.1 (wide open with this lens). The first shot has a branch in the lower L corner cloned out. Both shots were processed in PS with birds brightened and BG darkened slightly. Both shots are about 75% FF.

The second one. Looks like siblings after an argument, cooling off

Nice question! While I lived in Atlanta for 46 years, I’m from the Army, born and raised. She’s the original Atlanta falcon for me!

Thanks, lucky for me, she stayed in the tree long enough for me to get the camera and shoot.

This is a female. They are bigger than the males, called tercels.

We lived in Atlanta for 40+ years. I took this photo in 2012, cropped. It is a female peregrine falcon. She and her Tercel mate had a nest about a mile away in the AT&T tower across from my office building. I used a Canon Rebel XSi with EF 55-250 4-5.6 IS.

Hi all. My MacBook Pro is currently running on Ventura 13.4. Not only do I keep getting messages to upgrade, but I've also had lapses in downloading email lately. The AppleCare tech attributed that to a need to upgrade my OS. My options are the later version of Ventura 13.6.1 or Sonoma 14.1.1, which the AppleCare person described as "next generation," with more significant changes than I'd get with the newer Ventura.

I'm looking to our Hogs for experiences and advice on the best choice. My main priority is choosing one that does not interfere with access to my Lightroom catalog. I'm currently running LR Classic 12.4.

Many thanks in advance for your guidance.

Hi all. My MacBook Pro is currently running on Ven... (show quote)

I had a problem with AppleMail- it froze with Monterrey on my MacBook Air when I tried to send an email with attachment. It had worked a couple days before. My IT consultant couldn’t fix it, said to delete my two email accounts and reload (no joy) and said upgrade to Ventura. Did that and was unable to reload either account. She couldn’t upload an account either on her Air, realized there’s a BIG BUG 🐛 in AppleMail (built into the IOS). This was mentioned in Apple forum and she would get a fix from Apple, then let me know how Apple responds. Haven’t heard. I don’t know if this relates to your mail anomalies.
BTW, my consultant say Sonoma, since it’s a newer IOS, likely still has bugs 🐜 needing fixes, so don’t upgrade. It irritates me to get notices for Sonoma updates.

I’m an old Ugly Hedgehog member but lost touch via moves, job changes, several new MackBooks. I’m a rank amateur photography enthusiast. Changed from Canon 35 mm to Canon digital abou 25 years ago. The advent of IPhone and IPad made snapping images easier and convenient. Mastery with digital cameras has eluded me. Hedgehog has moved on to creating images and photos in a much more focused manner. I have done a little post production but not much recently.

I’m semi-retired for 5 years from my second career as a business communication facilitator. This involved teaching 1,2, and 3 day classes in style and delivery, content and presentation creation, getting executive and their teams ready for small medium and large presentations and conferences. Orals coaching was my favorite. Companies putting proposals together for $10 million up to $6 billion dollar contracts. When they have to do presentations to the potential clients they need help. I would facilitate presentation creation, visual and video materials. The teams were experienced engineers and IT professional, but they couldn’t talk their way out of a bathroom. They needed to present with confidence, energy, focus, knowledgably and be a well functioning team that the client wants to work with. It was a privilege, challenging and very rewarding. Most of the several dozen projects won their contracts
It took me though North, Central and South America, Europe, the Middle East and India. Quite a marvelous journey

My first career was as a psychotherapist, working with a variety of patients in residential treatment, hospital and out patient settings. Most of theses folks suffered from trauma. They need help to ease their pain, and make relationships. I worked with kids, teens, families, and groups with a variety of modalities. Therapy was about healing growth and change. Patients went from suffering, learned about the sources of their pain, about themselves and experienced healing. Business clients went from nervous and anxious (it’s public speaking essentially), went through some uncomfortable and challenging behavioral change activities on video, and ended up
thriving. The journeys were similar in process, producing more well being, growth and development.

I now work with entrepreneurs and start ups as they create and grow their businesses.
I have more time to continue my often interrupted photography journey
Thanks for reading this. I’m looking forward to reacquainting with the Ugly HedgeHog community.

I have a 2020 27" intel IMAC with Big Sur OS 11.7.10. About 5 month or so ago I was considering upgrading my MAC OS to Monterey when Ventura was the current OS. I got busy with other things including travelling and never got around to upgrading my OS. Now the current OS is Sonoma. I am not sure if I can now upgrade to Monterey or if I have to upgrade to either Ventura or Sonoma. Not ready to go from Big Sur to Sonoma. I understand Apple will not support Big Sur after Dec. 31. I would like know if I can still upgrade to Monterey or do I have to upgrade to Ventura? I prefer to not bypass Monterey to do the Ventura upgrade.

I just upgraded to Ventura, as my 2020 MacBook Air started giving “application memory is full” when I tried to send an email with attachment. My expert and I couldn’t resolve (I had Big Sur)so we decided I needed to upgrade. She said Sonoma is too new, bugs haven’t been worked out yet, but Ventura has been around long enough to be solid. Don’t know if this applies to your 2020 27” intel IMAC.

A few years after high school, one of my best friends invited me to his wedding. I had a Canon Ftb 35 mm and was a rank amateur. He and his parents asked me to photo the wedding once I arrived. I tried my best to say no, didn’t know what I was doing, get someone else to, I even thought about say my sight
was compromised (I didn’t), I didn’t think I could do it (true). They were so nice and insisted. I took the film to get it developed as I left on a week long trip. Out of four rolls not one photo was worth it. I felt humiliated and terrible for my friend and his family and still do to this day 45+ year’s later. DON’T DO IT NO MATTER
WHAT.
