Well I do agree with the above comments. I have had Nikons since the film days.. I broke into the digital camera with a Nikon D40. It lasted for 7 years. I fell off a ledge and it broke. I know have a Nikon D5100 . I used a Tamron lens on it. As one of the others said. Maybe you got a lemon? You can see a lot of used 7100 cameras on Ebay. Some of the places like B&H or Adorama have refurbished. Sorry to hear all your bad luck. Never seems to be a dull moment.

Collect the insurance and buy another one. On any repair ask for an estimate. And find someone that makes protective box that will go around it. Don't hold your camera with two fingers. Never use it to take the place of your basketball. And the most important. Insure it. Sorry hope your ok. Keep laughing.

I owned the 18-270 for a long time. I now have the 16-300 on my Nikon. My photo buddy has the Canon D 80 with the Tamron 16-300 lens. It is a great lens. I would say go for it. I love the Tamron lens.

I am going thru all of the comments. The major difference between the 7100 and the 7200 is buffer and better processor. That being the case the question is called. Is it worth it. I was also thinking of the 5500 too. It has the same mega pixel and the articulation screen. Not to mention its lighter. If all my problems were as little as this. :>

Well this is interesting. My photo buddy has a Canon. I have Nikon. We both have the Tamron 16-300 mm lens. The pictures are sharp. In the past I had the Tamron 18-270 mm lens. No problems. I shot an air show with it. Yes I love my lens. As yourself what you budget is? My Tamron is always on my camera. It takes the place of a lot of lens. So Good luck. I am sure whatever you get . You will have great pictures.

Yearly,we hear that there is a new camera coming out. I am suffering from this. A few years back it was the 7100 and later the 7200. Whats the difference. Bigger buffer and better processor. Notice the rumor. They skipped the 7300 and 7400. The question I ask myself. What lens do I need. etc etc etc. Good luck.
