Hi Folks What is the filter on the expensive lens supposed to do? If it is just serving as a see through lens cap and you are going to remove it for those quality shots then a cheap one will serve you well. If you plan to shoot through it then get a top quality one. If you are going to smear vasiline on it for creative blurring then use a cheap one. John
I operate Pond House Photography and get my money from stringer jobs for local newspapers, Insurance Co's., Advertising work, Portrait work, a few nature photos sales, and Biomedical photography. I am educated as a photographer and consider myself professional... BUT most of my money comes from retirement & investments.
Once at Rochester Institute of Technology we had an assignment to spend no more that $5 to get a camera and film and come back with a great photo. We all did get great shots and many spent less than $5. Its the skill of the photographer mores than any one camera brand.
Hi Starz If this is nude photos of a friend just for kicks, and not for commercial use, then my advice is don't sweat it. Find a room with window light and use a tripod. Shoot from different angles and also have the subject turn and move in the light so it hits from different angles and on the body various sides. Keep the buddy relaxed and watch out for signs of fatigue. Short sessions can ne fun and productive. Let the subject view the raw images and discard the ones not liked. Loads of changes and improvements can be done in post processing. I'd be happy to tweak a few shots to give you an idea of how to vary them.
Years ago I needed extreme close ups of insects and I found that could rig my 50mm lens to my camera Backwards with the help of electric tape. I lost the auto functions of the lens but did get the needed sharp close ups. The working distance was a few inches. I later learned that one can buy an adapter to facilitate the connection of lens to camera body.
Hi Folks I use PS 5 and also do some editing in Gimp and I Photo. I learned retouching back in the days of film and now have to relearn the electronic way of doing things. John
