45 years in Maritime. Wow! Bet you have some stories.
I live in Northern lower Michigan which is on two very large bays of water known as East and West Bay, separated by a peninsula and all the water is part of Lake Michigan, the main lake being 30 miles or so up the road. It is a beautiful area. The city is Traverse City or TC, as we like to call it.
We also have the Great Lakes Maritime Academy here in TC which is associated with Northwestern Michigan College and prepares cadets for positions on ships that sail worldwide, but especially for the freighters that sail the Great Lakes. If interested the link is: www.nmc.edu/maritime.
As with everyone else that has written me, I want you to know that the Tiger photos are not mine. I got them off of the internet and was not trying to deceive anyone. I just love Tigers and was using them to enhance my support for them and as an Avatar. I had them removed as soon as I found out what I had done.
I think am back on the right footing again, so I won't make that mistake again. Will only post my own photos, if I ever get that far with digital and having my film photo's digitalized for downloading. I have a ways to go yet, BUT I know I will get there.

I am new to forums and didn't read the rules. Bet you've heard that before... :oops: It's like tripping at the starting line of a foot race. Puts you behind, but you can still get up and finish the race.
It will be awhile before any photo postings. I have not jumped into the digital age. Have only stuck my toe in. I am having my film images placed on discs for download, which I still have to learn, and I am still considering which DSLR I want to purchase. All I know for sure, is that it will be a Nikon that is compatible with my existing lenses that I use with my N90. Another member has informed me of the models available for doing that and so now it is just a matter of deciding, going to my local family camera shop, making the purchase, and taking their available class for newbies from film to digital.

Just when I thought I was capturing some decent photographs with my slide film, along comes digital. I stayed with film til just recently. I, like you, am just easing into this "it's all Greek to me," form of photography. I am excited by it, finally, and hope too get out of neutral and into drive real soon.

Nice set of photo's. I love Cardinals. I like the way you used a shallow depth of field to show off the bird(s) and put the background out of focus and out of mind. Great job.
Wow. Crazy weather this year. I am in Michigan and right now it is 3am, 9 degrees and a wind chill of -2. LOTS of snow. I can't imagine snow in your area.
