Squirrel was quite upset when I appropriated his fancy dinner for an experimental stacking photo...

Nicely done.

Any chance of trading some of my muddy Eastern gullies for a patch of your high ground?

Ah well...I started with a skunk cabbage. Doesn't end up as well as your choice of plant...

Line and texture appear in theatrical terms...Shakespearean. What is it?

Many congratulations to Scarlet and Mullumby and all the others who have hit the 100 mark with thier coverage of the Australian theme!

And welcome back from your walk-about Scarlet!

Great to see your view from Mount Chiddyup...and while the light may not have been what you'd have liked, nothing usually is in the great outdoors, but you did a beautiful job "just photographing a big rock" anyway!

I hope all of you keep on having fun putting out windows to your world!

Today is the last of the mining photos,

Thank you Mullumby for a concise and end to end coverage of a subject few people have ever seen for themselves. And never will again.
Your effort has been a rare example of sharing that I hope many other people will appreciate as I have.
And yes...your trust in, and photo of, those rock bolts is also noted!

Well done.

Thanks Markar,

Good images their Mike, Digging holes in Oz seems to be the mainstay of our economy. Ship it to China for 10 cents a kilo and buy it back at $100 as watches..mmmm

Then again, the holes are a heck of a lot more interesting and useful then what was there to begin with!

Met a dugite last week. This one was sunbaking and I very nearly missed it...

Very long telephoto lens can be somewhat useful...

Was this what we would know as a Brown snake?

D7100! How did you know?

Because of the color quality. Seems to have a better purple-red-and luckily for your wren-blue range.

That blue will not only test your camera, it will be well worth uping the shutter counts!

Nice work.

Todays rock art posts are from W.A.s Pilbara, unlike the previous posts of paintings these are carvings, and i defy anyone to tell me of what, they bare no resemblance to anything i know of.
The Pilbara has thousands of pieces of this type of art scattered over a huge area.

Any traditions of elaborate head dress anywhere in the records of the area?

Or of very strange visitors (as there was in Aztec lore)?

Pretty good shot for "Noxious Weeds"!

You seem to have caught a high edge on that purple color too. D7000 or 7100?

Enjoy the magic season

That 3rd one "going green" is outstanding!

Frankly, I think some of the D7100 software kicked in on that one... " a highly accurate 2016-pixel RGB sensor evaluates every scene, taking into account brightness, contrast, subject distance and color, for spot-on auto operations like Face-Priority and..."

Hard as it might be to call that a face, it did turn out (to my eye at least) with a little better contrast and density. Perhaps those little magic genies working inside the box really did polish off the image a little...

The other nice thing about the shot was that with a 24meg base file it could be blown up nearly twice as big and still hold a clean sharpness level that was suprising. (That made of a LOT of serious ugly for a "portrait".)
