This is why I LOVE UHH. There is always people trying to help others out to make them a better photographer !! A LOT of good information here. I sometimes forget about #7 myself, getting caught up in the moment and the excitement. And like PennysBill said about the D3. If you just simply aren't satisfied with the D300S results, go to a full frame camera which has a bigger mirror which in turn absorbs more light where you can turn all lot of your settings back down. Ya'll keep up the good work, I enjoy reading the comments because they also help me out....
Guitarkatt, it sounds like you have a good start on the settings and adjusting them. There really isn't that many to adjust. I shoot a lot of night time sports and the lighting GREATLY differs from field to field that you go to. Just play with those settings, and I constantly look at my histogram. That will tell you where you're at too. Through that, you will be able to tell if you need to make the image still lighter (or darker). I try to keep mine a little to the left from center because you can always add a little fill light if you're too dark. Good Luck
We went out the other day in search of the majestic bald eagle. They follow the river coming from the north in search of food. They are only here for a couple months before they make the journey back home. Me and my bride had a great time. Hopefully we can go shooting some more this year before they leave. I just wanted to share my results with the Hedgehog fans.....
I'm also looking for a new screen saver too. I have a D300S which has a plastic cover on the back (that I love), but my new D4 dose'n't come with a screen saver at all and I really need to get something. I'm scared to death I'm going to accidentlly going to scratch it all up so I've been super careful until I get one so thanks ya'll for all the info........
Hi Angie, I got that same offer. How much do you use it. Do you edit all your photos?? I don't use any editing software (except Picasa for minor things sometimes) and I'm just confused WHAT software to buy. Also do I buy straight PS Elements or Premiere ?? Do I buy Nikon software, elements PS, and I guess there are others. I'm just a little confused. Any help would be appreciated
WOW, I guess I won't be seeing my new camera in time for my Alaskan trip. I also bought the 24/70, (but I have that). Thanks for the info, I bought the D4 and it is on back-order but thats ok just unfortunate.
Did you get the $200 discount on the 24/70 with the D4?

I've been looking to get a teleconverter for my lens and I noticed prices differ from the three available. My question is why is the 1.7X the highest price and what is different about the 1.7X as oppose to the 1.4X or the 2.0X to justify the price. Any help would be appreciated.
^^all the above^^ I've had the same problems too. I usually do the Picasa thing. I've even used a tripod AND the camera LCD screen and I still wind up doing adjustments with Picasa, 5 seconds. It's all good, and life goes on.
