Bob, when you asked what kind of prints I wanted, it highlighted to me my ignorance and it spoke to your expertise!
Thank you so much. Wayne

I live at the base of Mesa Verde, and I'm 70 miles from Telluride, 90 miles from Blanding, Utah, and 41 miles from Shiprock, New Mexico. Which is my way of saying that I have a lot of access to beautiful country, and as a retiree, I have the chance to get out and chase storms. All shots were made from Wetherill Mesa, which is an out-of-the way destination, and the park service usually closes that road with the first significant snowfall so it is very unusual to make a photograph there in the snow.

You made my day buddy ! We have similar gear. I have a D810, a Tamron 15-30 f2.8, a Nikkor 24-70 f2.8, the incredible 70-200 f2.8 E, an 80-400 Nikkor, Tamron 150-600, and the legendary Nikkor 200mm F4 macro (which amazes me every time I use it). I also have a 50mm 1.8 which is a good lens but I never use it.

Oh, that is an excellent idea Stan.

Thanks! I live in a very rural area and I didn't even think of Costco. I appreciate the good suggestion.

Bill, I need something that looks good, but is economical. I intend to print 40 different posters and probably 10 of each to start. My idea is to sell them in National Parks and Monuments in the southwest. I don't know anything about printing, although I would note that some of the shots would be b&w. I also don't have a clue about where to find the boxes to hold the posters for retail sale, and how to have a print made that shows all the different posters. At the risk of sounding shallow, I need them to be inexpensive because, say they sold for $20 apiece, the park service concessionaire takes a cut (typically 30%) so I have to have room for some profit. The REAL purpose of the posters is an entryway to my fine art prints. Any advice is welcome.

Does anyone have any experience with printing poster prints for sale at the retail level. I am thinking in terms of 12x18" or 20x30" and in fairly large quantities (say 100 at a time). The prices for MPIX are so high that it would be impossible to make a profit. . . I would prefer to have them printed stateside to support US businesses, and I also want fairly high print quality.

I'm sure that's an extreme example, but there is no advantage to using a UV filter rather than a clear filter. A lens hood is also good. A Xume magnetic adapter will let have the filter on or off in less than a second.

I had bad luck with the Manfrotto magnetic filter system; apparently bumped a $100 B&W polarizer and knocked it off unknown to me, and despite backtracking for 3/4 miles, couldn't find it. The convenience is
alluring, but I'm not a fan of the system anymore.

Wow, that is a LONG time to live in a teepee. I attended some ceremonies in them over the course of my career in Indian Health Service. It's really a functional space to live in although
fitting square or rectangular furniture in a circular space is a bit of a challenge. On frigid nights I was surprised at how they were pretty easy to heat.

Linda, thanks. I'm a bit "rusty" having not posted much for months! I meant to post the full size attachment but apparently flubbed it.

No two snowflakes have been found to be identical. These floating aspen leaves and frozen beads of water warrant a closer look. As far as I can tell, each leaf
has a unique pattern of water beads. On one hand there is the valid criticism that the image is too busy; the counter to that is the image illustrates a tiny
sliver of the concept that nature is infinite. How could it not be?

There is a Spanish term "Fingers of God" for this kind of light. Dallas Divide, a few miles from Ridgway, Colorado.

For some reason when I saw this scene I was reminded of Edward Hooper.
