I just received a used Nikon D5 (in really good shape), but its firmware is 1.00, and the latest version is 1.50.
Can I just use the file that upgrades from 1.40 to 1.50 or do I have to find other upgrade files to upgrade by steps?
Thank you for the response.
Thank you for the advice, I plan to also use the D3x and D5 for different applications. Your advice for testing both cameras makes a lot of sense.
I plan on utilizing the D5 for experimenting with low light situations. I don’t like using a flash.
I ordered an almost new D5 from KEH. I am using a D3x now that is a bit beat up, which I will continue to use. I use a Fujifilim X-100v for street photography.
Has anyone had experience with a Nikon D5?
This is what photography is all about. Good eye.
I have been using an 85mm Nikkor lens with either a Nikon D3x or F6 for years with excellent results. I also have a 85mm lens for my Sony A7 with the same results.
I will just have to start availing myself of the ignore setting.
I hate to nit pick because this is a great website for photo info and advise.
This was not a personal issue but was my observation after a member asking a simple question about ISO and the responses covered eight plus pages of a lot of inane comments and trying to one-up-man-ship each other.
I am retired but have a very busy life aside from photography and don't have extra hours to be monitoring a forum to see if someone disagreed with my advice.
Volunteer to help the Homeless or some other activity might be a better use of your time.
This issue is certainly not unique to UHH but to many forums covering a range of different subjects.
Sorry but I just have this picture of individuals hunched over their computers waiting to ponce.
Why when someone asks a simple question all too often this forum turns into a huge bitch session. Members sniping at each over inane comments when the answer could be stated with no more than three comments instead of eight plus pages of picking at each other. Get a life.
There is a lot of great information to be had on this site but too often it has to be found in between oneupmanship comments.
I have used two Tenba bags since the 80's and they are still perfect, can't go wrong.
I agree so far for my needs DxO works well. I have also dropped Lightroom.
I am not an expert on DxO yet but I am excited about the results I am getting with the processing. I am converting RAW images to B&W using the various filters and I also am using DxO to work with jpgs from scanned B&W film shot with my Nikon F6.
I have become a street photographer at the young age of 76.
Thanks very much for your response.
I have joined the DxO forum since your 1st response.
