I would want to know if this has ever occurred before with any other President. My gut tells me it probably has...

Possibly, however I would only guess it was not couched as an order but as a professional courtesy....

I own a Nikon D3. Been shooting more than my share of studio work. Seems at times, in the middle of shoot, my shutter won't work. I'm guessing: 1) the low-light conditions are not letting the auto-focus to work and/or 2) the camera is taking its sweet time loading data onto the memory card..... Seems if I set the camera down for a minute or two, the shutter starts working again..... but while in the middle of shoot, I can't expect the model or agency person to cool their heels and wait for the camera to recover. I shoot in low light to minimize the effects of any incandescent light bleeding in the photos.... I am really curious to hear what my fellow photogs think, and if there's a practical solution to this issue.... PLMK

The tragedy here is..... nobody is shocked by this... I only wonder if the Left realizes that in the future, should a conservative get elected, this all can come down on their heads too!! Just plain stupid... a total abdication of their constitutional rights!!! Sick!!

This is a photography site, not a spreading of political disease.

As stated by the other replies, it's for chit-chat and specifically states this is non-photographic chit-chat. I'll add one remark further, cthahn, your statement about "spreading of political disease", I presume you don't agree and are being a tad defensive knowing what was stated, by and large, is the truth. Obama is a hypocrite of the highest order and has completely overstepped the powers of the President. It's not so much what he's done, it's how he's done it that ticks me off to no end. To those Obama supporters with a short fuse when this man is criticized, the truth hurts doesn't it?

I use Carbonite in "the cloud" to backup my harddrive which contains all my 2014 picture folders. Previous years are stored on an external harddrive (2T).

My folder system looks like this...

- My Pictures (windows supplied folder)
- Nikon Transfer
- 2014
- 01_02_14_201
- 01_04_14_202

The last three digits indicate the folder number. I started at "01" in December, 2011.

RV, please elaborate more on Nikon transfer... I'm curious... Thanks.

I felt the need not only to keep my files stored on both WD or Seagate Drives, but I now back up files offsite on a cloud storage system known as Backblaze. I've almost run out of room on my 2TB drive.... and will buy a new 4TB as the need arises.

I was gifted a 1960's vintage Nikon F2 with all sorts of gizmo's to photograph the birth of my first child. I am very familiar with Nikon equipment and know little or nothing about Canon. For me to say buy one brand over the other would wrong. I will say this though.... Even in the era of DSLR, my Nikon's have always been totally reliable and Nikon service is second to none when an issue arises. I defy anyone to look at two quality photos and tell me which one was captured from a Nikon or a Canon.....

I suggest we stop this now.

Extreme wide angle lenses give the photographer the opportunity to play with perspective, often flare, well light generally, used creatively, it's all a very personal thing. Hope this helps and apologies if I sounded nasty.

A wide angle lens, if used to suit the shooters image of his/her subject, is a perfectly good tool in our bag of tricks in tight quarters... Amen to what you said....

Very good video. Here is something else to consider. First. racism is flat out wrong. But what do blacks do about it. (I don't like the phrase African American). 70% of black children have no father in the house. Murder rate is sky-high, Less than 40% have High School education. highest % on welfare etc.etc. There has never been a Government in history that has sought to eliminate all the blacks in the world and in fact rounded up millions of them and gassed them to death. The Jewish people have been discriminated against throughout history. Even today there are governments that seek to murder every Jew on the planet. I know of no country that has as it's creed to drive ist neighboring black country into the sea. That having been said what have the Jews done about it. They have forged the only democratic country in the area. The Arabs and Palistinians that live in Israel have more freedom than any muslim nation. They educate their children they have very little crime As a group the Jews in the US are far more sucessful than blacks. There is antisemitism in the US but I do not see Jewish leaders on TV or on the radio screaming ANTI-SEMITISIM every time a crime is commited against a Jewish person. Why are the Jews so successful in the US. Strong familly structure, emphasis on education and strong moral character, In short strong Judao-Christian values. The Blacks would do well to emulate.
Very good video. Here is something else to consid... (show quote)

Boberic.... great response and it states EXACTLY how I feel. Racism in any form stinks, and I wouldn't associate myself with anyone I knew to be a racist against any religion or ethnicity, without exception!! While by no means religious, I strongly identify with my Jewish heritage and strongly back Israel. I know where my people came from, I know what they went through to get where they are. It's a miracle a single Jew still exists on this planet. You are so right.... you do not hear Jews bellyaching about not so overt anti- Jewish sentiment... It seems as a culture, we just move forward and succeed anyway despite the negativity. I am hugely proud of Israel, it's democracy, it's close alliance with the USA, and love how they've succeeded despite having a few hundred million people in Muslim dominated countries surrounding them who seem to wish every last Jew in the world to die.

If you haven't lived through it you wouldn't understand it. Racism is a sensitive subject nor should it be taken lightly. If my neighbor is Black then I am to treat him no different than my White neighbor. We are all created in God's image and should live our lives accordingly. My Black neighbor is to be treated as a brother. Do you agree?

Agree, totally.

No, I am not overreacting here. I should speak out against racism more than I do. The clip showed racism yes but I believe it's message is something Al Sharpton & Jesse Jackson would dream up. Want to really see racism at work - look at Al Sharpton & Jesse Jackson!

Bangee5...... I totally agree with you. The Sharptons and Jackson's of the world are profiting by keeping the "racist" message alive and thereby excusing some pretty sorry facts about race, and crime in America. To dljen, who decries "racism in America"... like this was something unique to America and Americans.... to that I get offended. WE Americans did not invent racism on our own. It was brought here by previous generations of Europeans mostly who actively participated in it for many centuries of human existence long before the USA was formed. Guys like Sharpton NEED to keep racism alive and well even where it may not exist. Sharpton is a race baiter of the worst sort... Jackson is a profiteer who enriched himself handsomely with methods that amount to out and out extortion. America did not invent racism, and those who believe so only need to read up on countries like Brazil who find that to this day, their black population has a higher unemployment rate and is discriminated against, despite being considered one of the most racially open countries on earth.

BunkoT.... Please believe me when I say that your critique of what I wrote was not at all taken badly by me... However, you asked me if the shoe were placed on the other foot, wouldn't I be just a little pissed off? The answer I give you is no, I wouldn't. I am Jewish, I grew up with memories of relatives with numbers tattoo'd on their wrists, meaning they were Nazi concentration camp survivors of the Holocaust. I ask you, shouldn't I be just a little pissed off at Germans??? The answer is no, I am not, by by your measure I sure as hell should be. Mr. Bunko, I am not, nor ever have been, nor has anyone in my family been responsible for slavery and rampant racial discrimination for the century after slavery was abolished. While this is a tragic part of American history, and I regret it deeply, but I am not going to apologize for it and wring my hands in regret. It's sickening, it happened, but it's LONG in the past... I say "enough". We should never forget these sad chapters in our history I might add, but racists and racism comes in all forms and from all different people. If anything, the commercial highlighted that fact. But, I have been attacked, physically assaulted for being a Jew. I remember those assaults, I fought back, but got beaten badly on at least two occasions. I remember it, but I am not traumatized by it. I was taught as a child to respect ALL people, regardless of race or religion. To me, racism of any kind is horrifying.
