Thanks for your response. I did check your Cuba Street images. They are GREAT. I was surprised that I enjoyed the B&W ones too. Cuba known for bold colors took on a dramatic and different feel in B&W. Kudos to you. I had to laugh about the story of you being chased by a women with a stick. I don't know with my speed if I could outpace her.

I thought of going to Cuba and your pictures increased my interest. I need to visit Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Glacier NP first. Them if healthy enough Cuba is a good bet. The only place you can find as many old American Cars is Minnesota's Back to the fifties and even then less.

Good luck. I checked with Tamaron and they are working on a firmware fix. Hope Nikon is working on one for you. You are probably thinking that full frame camera was pricy so you would hope it will work with a firmware update - if not developed already than soon. Nikon gets early beta versions of cameras and lens so there should not be issues as you report. Of course it is your responsibilty to update the firmware. I have the camera repair shop update firmware when I get the sensor cleaned.

I would call Nikon. I am guessing it worked on your crop sensor camera but not on full frame as the distance between the lens and sensor is different. Ask about an adaptor mount? Also ask if a firmware update would do the trick. I have a Tamaron 28-300 for Canon Mount that works great on the Rebel crop camera but not with the New Full frame RP. I get a round picture with the full frame camera. I plan on calling Tamaron to see if a firmware updat will solve the same issue albeit different camera and lens combination.

A crop camera will give you better reach. Nikon crop is equal to 1.5 and Canon 1.6 Therefore a Nikon D 300 with it set at 300mm will give you a 450 mm image or 480 mm for a Canon. The Nikon full frame you get 300 mm. I keep my D 300 for wildlife and airshows. My Nikon D700 and D800 full frame for Portraits and Landscape. Use the new Canon RP mirrorless for Portraits and Landscape too - especially when I travel as it is lighter. Use wide angle lens for full frame cameras also or you are sacrificing getting the widest shot possible. Buying a long lens for a full frame camera is an expensive proposition in my mind especially if shoots at 2.8.

Street Photography has been an interest but I have done very little of that genre. My son really objected when I shot an image of some passerby in Chicago without going up and asking permission. Then how would you get a candid shot? Am I not taking time away and disturbing them needlessly with the request? I just got a Canon RF. It is a mirrorless and small especially if I mount on a 50 MM lens. It also can be set to silent mode. If anyone asks if I took a picture I say yes. Would you like to see it? I offer to send them a copy as well. I only got one person that said they did not want their picture taken unless I paid them and a few that put their hand out and said NO. The person that wanted payment indicated he was a homeless veteran. I should have given him a few dollars and regret not doing so. On the other hand should one have to pay to cover the plight of homelessness? Like I said I should have opened my wallet. I am retired and gave up on the commercial side of photography. I shot for charities. I shot family portraits for single parents and foster parents. Maybe paying a homeless person for an image or two does not undervalue my skills/contribution. What say you?? I always understood if you are out in the public and not a youngster you should not have an expectancy of privacy. Anyway I am interested in all viewpoints.

Check if they are stacked on top of one another. Look for a number 2 or other indication.

The new Nikon Mirrorless has an adaptor that allows use of existing Nikon lens. There are two the lesser priced one saves $1400 and still has an insane high pixel count. It also knocks out more images per second. There are two shortcomings. 1 does not have dual slots 2 the required SD card is extremely expensive. But if you are comfortable with the egonomics / feel of your Nikon it should be strongly considered. Happy shooting whatever you decide.

I only no that the D800 gave the option. I presume that since Adobe edit software has some one click digital correction software and that owners of a D810 and D850 would likely have that software to work with they felt a built in hard filter is unnecessary. i would agree. I wonder if the Nikon edit software they provide deals with that digitally. My guess is yes. A digital filter that allows selective application on the image is cheaper then a hardware filter too so you are right it may be a new practice. I just wish I had the money to preorder the D850. Oh well.

Basically the 800E does not have a high pass filter. You may need to selectively edit your raw images differently for slightly sharper images. BTW the 850 is offered on preorder. It gives you 24 Megpicxal resolution and faster frame rate. You may want to preorder the Nikon 850. The price is about what the D800 was so even if you get the D800 on sale it is for a model they are replacing. I have the D800 and love it but clearly would buy an D850 if I were purchasing one today.

I used a Watson battery as a backup and all was well. I hate paying twice as much for a backup battery to get a Nikon name written. Neither are produced in the USA anyway. If you have the money go with the Nikon battery. It avoids warrantee issues and that may be worth the extra cost. BTW I lost the Watson battery recently and was happy it did not lose a higher price battery backup. I intend to buy another Watson battery for my Nikon D800.

I am no lawyer and so take this comment with a grain of salt. Problems arise if a photographer is using the image commercially (getting royalties) without a model release. Expectation of privacy in an open town hall [especially of an adult] should not be expected but that may not stop the person from objecting to you making the image public. I would love to do street photography but rarely do just because I don’t want to carry release forms around. Of course if the image is shown to the subject and they are aright with it I typically take their email and send them a copy in exchange for their permission to take and add it to a portfolio.

Personally I would have cropped it less an 8 x 10 crop would have been my likely target. It would had removed your shadow (distraction) and made her less monstrous. But like you I try to try out various aspect ratios and see what tells the story the best.

Plus the law offers you more expectation of privacy with a land line. No one needs to know what I ate or the weather unless I want them to know.

Yes AZ has amazing landscapes. During the Monsoon season (now) you also have interesting skies. So much of the year is devoid of clouds. Nice photos.

My wife shoots Cannon and I Nikon. But you should consider a mirrorless and Sony is probably best. No mirror increases the frame rate and it is lighter and better to shoot without drawing attention. If I were buying a new camera it definitely would be a mirrorless. Just a thought. BTW I live in the Tucson AZ area so if you have questions about venues near here feel free to let me know. Welcome to AZ.
