Thank you all for your input. I will wait a few days for the Photokina show to pass. I don't need the newest and latest camera technology but it would be interesting to see if they upgrade the D750. I still love my D700 and will keep it for a backup. My mental health has been restored! God bless you all.

I don't know where to look to see if this issue has been posted before, I have been toying with upgrading my D700. I've
spent two evenings reading about recalls, 3 for the same problem of lens flaring and then shutter issues. I'm having alot of
problems pulling the trigger with a D750 purchase. I have a fair amount of money invested in Nikon glass so I don't want to change
systems. Has Nikon corrected all these issue? Any D750 shooters care to ease my frayed nerves after reading all of these reports?
I don't think a D810 is my answer.
Thanks in advance.
Harry

It looks like you left the "Nor Side" and wandered over to the "Sah Side"

Camera meters are designed to average the light they see and make it a middle tonality. At night all that dark space make the meter to underexpose. We can correct that in camera or we can do it with editing software.
The majority of those beautiful shots are overexposed. The exposure meter simply did its job trying to average the exposure to a middle tonality resulting in overexposure.
With your kind permission I corrected one of the shots and I hope you can tell the difference compared to the original.
It is never my intention in this forum to critique unless the OP requests critique and when I do critique I am only doing it to the best of my knowledge to help. If you do not want critique or if you are satisfied with the quality of these photographs simple ignore me and I apologize.

We will be going on an Alaska cruise at the end of May. I was looking at the Tamron 16-300 as there is a rebate going on right now, until March 5. A local camera store showed me the Tamron 70-300 f4.0-5.6, saying that would be better lens. It is normally priced about $50 less than the Nikon 70-300, which is an f4.5-5.6. However, another local store is offering. $30 rebate on the Nikon, bringing the difference in price to only $20. For $20 (even at the regular pricing) my gut feeling is to go with the Nikon. Only other major difference is that the Tamron takes a 62mm filter while the Nikon takes a 67mm.

Sorry if I "hijacked" the original poster's question but your comment on the 70-300 got me going.

I've read where some people thought the lens wasn't too good at 300 but at
64 years old my eyes aren't that sharp all the time.

I agree with you about the 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR lens. There are much better, more expensive lenses but
I've used this lens for several years on a D300s at baseball games and football practice from the side lines and always made some good shots.

Splenetic. It's been a while since I had to look up a word on the internet. I like the way it just rolls of the tongue.
Can't wait to use that in a conversation. Thank you.

Why will the ability to print from digital be "lost"? Can you post a link to that article?

Thanks.

We are only given so much time on this earth and I'm sorry I wasted 5 minutes of it reading this trash.

"Slight changes"? Bull....! I waste more time trying to find things on 10 than I did on Vista or 7 where things were only a click away.

Ha! It's a brave new world, you gotta learn to deal with it. Keep on rolling, roll with the changes!

I took the plunge to beat the deadline. So far everything is working flawlessly.
I'm 63 and no computer geek. I think waiting might have given them time to
correct problems. You do have to use your brain dealing with slight changes in finding
things but it doesn't hurt and it won't make you cry.

I hear that trying to take camera gear to football stadiums can be difficult. If you
don't have access to the side lines or end zone you're not going to get any good shots. Baseball
is much more easier to photograph from my experience.
