I can't decide which I like better, your bird of paradise or your kitty cat avatar. LOL

Yes, I asked my garden center about them when I took this picture in and they told me it is a Japanese Lily, though I can't remember what kind.

I understand what you are trying to do, and your reasons; however, what you have to work with needs a different approach. When I asked myself what I might do, under the same circumstances, it became clear to me.

Keep you image small and as sharp as possible. Below are three images that I ran through PhotoShop and tweaked a bit. My thinking is a nice locket for each of the sisters, with only that portion of the original image that really makes a statement about the feelings between two twin sisters. The only difference between these images is the image sizes. 191 pixels square; 170 pixels square; and, 160 pixels square.

If you were to do something along these lines, putting the image of the two into a locket for each of them. . .I think will have hit a major home run. When the image has to be small, work with it small and oh so personal.

I did check the box but this is the highest resolution I have.
Really old pic not saved properly.

Sorry BaliHai, but you still have not selected the check box next to the words 'Store Original' that is located just to the right of the "Brouse" command button. We still have just the thumbnail. Using the words 'store original' in the name/description won't work.[/quote]

I'm sorry, I thought I had reposted and clicked store original on the second picture. Will do it again to see if it makes a difference. I was not ignoring you, just thought I had done it correctly.

Hi, Balihi

You are not responding to my three posts. Is it not clear what I am suggesting?

You need to upload your image for others to have a chance to help you. You have not done that yet. Without the "(store original)" checked you have only uploaded a low resolution thumbnail.

What you get back will be worse than what you have.

Larry Leach

Your original is 432X325 so it is pretty small ~ I increased the size to 1000X752 however the original is not great quality so this is the best I could do with it. Let me know and I can load it if you wish.

thank you all for your thoughts and assistance. I printed it out as a 3.5 x 5 and it has nice enough detail with all the color. It's mostly the memories that it will recall that will be nice. It will look good in one of those cute little frames. I would like it downloaded to the increased size to see if it makes a difference. Or email it to me. Thanks so much.

Here is the full size to work with and it was taken with a digital, Back in the days when I didn't save large files because I didn't know better.

Was this taken with a digital camera or did you scan a hard copy?

I have a really old photo taken 11 years ago of my mother and her twin sister. My aunt has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and I would like to print this for my mother but the resolution is so poor that it doesn't even print good at 4 x 6. Is there any hope of saving it? I welcome any help if someone wants to work on it.

My cards are unique to our area and the stores that take them have nothing like them. I live in Sutter Creek, Ca, which is a tourist area and next to the vinyards too so there is alot of traffic. They also put them right near the register so tend to go fast. I have not had to buy a rack to display them as we put them in colored square baskets. The casino has them on card racks though.
Good to know I am in the same ballpark for pricing, really didn't know if I wasn't paying myself enough.

Hi Kathy,
Would it be possible to ask what you price your cards at and what commission the stores typically ask?

Yes, I sell them for $3 and they sell them for $4.99 to $6.00. If I sell privately, not to a store, I sell them for $4.00. Works for me and I get return sales.

I have been able to sell 5" x 7"cards that I display in round vertical racks in Gift shops. I purchase the blank cards from "www.PhotographersEdge.com" 1-800-550-9254. They have high quality stuff and good service. Depending on the effort you put in to it and the stores you put it into,I think your work should sell.
You have to price your cards to cover the stores commissions which may run 40%

This is exactly what I have done too. After winning photo contests with the local newspapers the gals at the newspaper gave me the encouragement I needed to get off my butt to sell my photos. I am very happy with Photographers Edge products and the ship quickly.

Fortunately I live in an area where there are boutiques and gift shops and LOTS of tourists. I even went to the local casino and they are carrying my cards now. My contact info is stamped on the back and I just got a huge sale for Christmas cards from that.
I have a variety of photos and subjects to cover different tastes. It's fun to go into a store and have the owners love your work and actually buy them. Half of the stores have my work on consignment. I just tell them what I want per card and they mark them up and keep the profit.
Bottom line, it is a real moral booster.
