Yes, the sentiment was truly meant. The picture came to me in an email accompanying the message. I'll be more careful to check things with www.snope.com next time.

Manarola From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
View of Manarola Manarola's historic buildings
Manarola village

Manarola (Manaea in the local dialect) is a small town, a frazione of the comune
(municipality) of Riomaggiore, in the province of La Spezia, Liguria, northern Italy. It is
the second-smallest of the famous Cinque Terre towns frequented by tourists.

Overview The large wheel which can be at the origin of the name of the village
Manarola may be the oldest of the towns in the Cinque Terre, with the cornerstone of the
church, San Lorenzo, dating from 1338. The local dialect is Manarolese, which is marginally
different from the dialects in the nearby area. The name "Manarola" is probably a dialectical
evolution of the Latin, "magna rota". In the Manarolese dialect this was changed to "magna
roea" which means "large wheel", in reference to the mill wheel in the town.

Manarola's primary industries have traditionally been fishing and wine-making. The local wine,
called Sciacchetra , is especially renowned; references from Roman writings mention the high
quality of the wine produced in the region.

In recent years, Manarola and its neighboring
towns have become popular tourist destinations, particularly in the summer months. Tourist
attractions in the region include a famous walking trail between Manarola and Riomaggiore
(called Via dell'Amore, "Love's Trail") and hiking trails in the hills and vineyards above the
town. Manarola is one of the five villages of the Cinque Terre.

Most of the houses are bright
and colourful. Manarola was celebrated in paintings by Antonio Discovolo. In
popular culture Like its fellow Cinque Terre town of Riomaggiore, it was featured in the video
game Forza Horizon 2. It is also the inspiration for the Dorado map in the video game.

We see lots of pictures of wounded male veterans

but women vets get wounded and maimed too.

You may need to take a second, closer look though.

The first thing I saw was a bunch of beautiful smiles.

Study this picture again. Let the story it tells sink in.

These women and many others, as well as their male comrades,

paid this price for our freedoms.

And, they did it for less than what welfare recipients are paid!!!

DID YOU GET THAT?!?

They risked these injuries (or death) FOR YOU and ME!

GOD BLESS THEM ALL !!!

Simpler times and a simpler lifestyle...great parents... growing up in the late'20s, 30s and 40s in Sioux Falls, SD, has prepared me for my soon-to-come 91st birthday. I've benefitted from the same or similar experiences listed by many of the good folks who've listed their childhood experiences here.

I've had measles, whooping cough, the flu, colds galore, tonsils removed...some other childhood diseases I don't even recall, and I'm still walking my two dogs twice a day at local parks; doing all the shopping and driving, since my soon-to-be 90 years old WWII German War Bride has glaucoma and can't drive anymore.

I survived several crashes on my used, skinny-tired bicycle...no helmet, of course. We pinned clothespins to the frame of the back wheel so part of the clothespin touched the wheel's spokes and sounded like a clicking engine. lol

All our kites were home-made outta brown paper shopping bags, glued to a wood frame, with tails made of pieces of cut up pillow cases to keep the kite vertical in the heavy winds.

Cowboys and Indians was our favorite game, played in our backyards that bordered on a common dirt alley.

We built a treehouse out of dead branches in a tree in one of our neighbor's backyard. Smoking was a challenge to us youngsters, and we collected cornsilk from nearby cornfields, wrapped it in toilet paper and lit it. Gawd, it was awful stuff. I haven't smoked anything since. lol

Sledding down a long, steep nearby street was a wintertime time passer. We'd run a short distance, with the sled held to one side, the runners facing down, then launch the sled to the ground and bellyflop on the sled. Ice skating..with old fashioned ice skates..on icy streets was another wintertime sport.

Those were good times......wonderful times, with great memories. No cellphones, no computers, no TV...only the radio with "Jack Armstrong, The All American Boy.

You said you had Win 10. Find the Control Panel icon|program, and within that window will be a SOUND icon. Click on the SOUND and it will show your default speakers. There you can correct anything that needs to be reprogrammed to get the speakers to emit sounds.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh for the good ol' days when Jimmy Carter was President. I was pulling down 28%, and more, on my savings. Today's interest rewards are pitiful.

Thank you, GalaxyCat for the kind reply. Sorry about the lack of a Download link. I'm not familiar with how to have that show.

Also, another picture of a fiery sunset over the Pacific, taken from the southern Calfornia Palos Verdes Peninsula location.

The last of these pictures of vivid sunsets over the Pacific barely show San Nicolas Island, 61 miles distant, one of the several Channel Islands off the southern CA coast. Also shown in the pictures is a cargo ship heading to|from one of the several big ports on the same southern CA coast. Downloading will make San Nicolas Island more visible.
