These are some of the best pictures you've taken on your Gulf Coast adventure. I'm glad you posted so many of your pictures from this trip. The Gulf Coast isn't a wasteland when it comes to beautiful places. Spring is really the best time to visit. (Summers are a bit hot and humid.) Thank you.

Thanks so much, I really appreciate your input, therwol. It's hard to know sometimes if I'm just boring people with my posts. While others demonstrate the creative, artistic side of photography, my intent has always been to share the interesting scenery along the way to give others ideas for planning their own travels. I had no idea what to expect on this visit to the coast--I love the rugged peaks of the Rocky Mountains with high mountain lakes for reflecting/magnifying the scenery--but was pleasantly surprised at all the beauty to be found along the Gulf.

Not just a good shot, a great shot! I would have a print made for a wall somewhere.
Yeah, I have looked everywhere, more than once, to figure out the difference between an Egret and a Heron. I don't think there is an agreed upon definition!

It's a Great Egret. I'm tempted to call it a Great White Egret to give it the same respect that the Great Blue Heron gets, but people don't like it when I do that! There is a Snowy Egret that looks much the same but has bright yellow feet, a yellow and black beak and is much smaller. Unless compared side by side they are hard to tell apart unless you remember the difference in beak color. And feet color, of course. If you can see their feet!

I love Gators. In the three years I spent photographing in the Florida swamps, I have many, many photos of Gators! Gator eating Gators. Gators eating fish. Gators eating turtles. Gators bellowing. Gators with baby Gators. Gators just being beautiful!
In all that time I have only had one close (dangerous) encounter and that was a mistake on my part. NOT the Gators fault! And, wait...yep, I just checked. I still have two hands and two feet!
And I can't run very fast anymore either!

Did I say that I love Gators?
Not just a good shot, a great shot! I would have a... (show quote)

Sounds like you really love gators! As one of earth's oldest creatures, their ability to survive and adapt is certainly to be admired.

Great set! You're just a talented photographer, Diane. It doesn't matter what you have in your hands.

Kim, that's such a nice thing to say--thank you!!

That is a so very nice shot of the Great Egret take off!! Beautifully done!
As far as Gators, WHY??? I loved seeing and photographing Gators in Florida! One of nature's best gifts to wildlife photographers!! Very impressive and BEAUTIFUL beasts!!

I am tickled that you singled out the bird taking flight as a good shot because I was kinda proud to get that shot...not being a bird photog and with only the end-reach of the 28-300mm. You say it is an egret? I have a hard time distinguishing the crane from the egret unless they are in flight. Thank you for the clarification. As for the gators, they move fast and don't let go once they have you. And I can't run fast anymore, lol!

Beautiful light.

That golden light was certainly the pot-of-gold at the end of that particularly cloudy, windy day!

Thank you, Karin--I never get enough of the warmth sunsets/sunrises bring to an image!

1, 2 and 4 are particularly nice!

Thank you, AFrame! The second image reminded me a lot of Miami, where I was born...long time ago. Miami is wall to wall buildings nowadays.

All your pictures were swell .
The rgird one is awesome.
It deserves to be printed large and hung on a wall.

Thanks so much, Charley! The 3rd image was one of the Galaxy S24+ captures. I was pretty amazed at the clean images I could get with the phone. I just had another phone image enlarged to 39" x 19" for a family member and it was quite clean and sharp after some slight tweaks in LR. Leaves are the only type detail I see coming up short with the phone.

Very nice! Tell me...Did the headnet interfere any with the photography, and keep the critters off?

Thanks, flyboy! I can't speak to the netting, since I wasn't wearing it. My buddy said it kept the biters off of him. He was using a tripod and 'live view', so the netting didn't interfere with his photography.
