William, that burnout display you captured was totally irresponsible and could have led to a real tragedy if one of those show-offs behind the wheel lost control of his vehicle! Those hay bales that lined the area would have provided little if any protection for the mindless youthful spectators that were present with their cell phones held high! I have attended other such events that were responsibly staged to keep spectators at safe distances and often utilized Jersey concrete barriers behind which the spectators were allowed to stand. Now that I've got that off my chest, I want to compliment you on the fine photographs of the cars on the show grounds!

Really nice job of photographing these vehicles at the show, Mike! That '56 Lincoln is a model that doesn't show up much at the shows in my neck of the woods. That Goodwood Green Corvette and the deep red (Burgandy?) early Chevy Pick-up were very attractive.

Those "mirror things" on the headlights of the '56 Ford are chromed hoods, a period thing to add a custom touch to a car. If my memory serves me correctly, the supposed function was to eliminate the need to hit the dim switch when encountering an oncoming vehicle.

That Carrera GT will surely stand out in a crowd as finished in that Vibrant Orange! I'm not really a fan of Porches, but these two examples could readily change my mind.

Sorry,Tom, take a dubious looking design, add a bit of a hideous shade of blue to accent portions of this car and it is still ugly in my opinion. Just my untrained eye and opinion on this uber expensive conversation piece!

Sorry, I don't get what you were trying to capture in framing an early T-bird in this manner.

Tom, I've been a fan of NASCAR since the days of Fireball Roberts, Marvin Panch and Lee and Richard Petty along with many others of that genre! I continue to follow NASCAR to this day, but I am less enthused now with the current rules for the design and engine rules for the cars. Yes, driver safety has been greatly improved, but save for the varied "wraps" on the cars, they all look the same and none have a decided power edge. I particularly have lost interest in the races run on the super speedways such as Daytona and Talladega where there is little real racing and huge multi-car accidents due to bump drafting and pack racing. I now am much more interested in the road course and short track venues where the real racing talent decides the victory.

Great photograph! Looks like the "Job" of being a Shaman is quite a lucrative profession in a gang regulated country! A lot of Bling adorns the neck, arms and fingers of this man of the cloth!

1962 Buick Skylark, something you don’t often see…

Bill

Part of the reason you don't see many of these cars is that they debuted a new engine for GM, a 215c.i. aluminum block V-8, and the public was not sure of the durability of this engine resulting in low sales. Another factor is that these engines were sought after for use in racing hydroplanes and yanked out of used cars for that purpose. Being an aluminum block, they made a light-weight power source for a popular class of hydroplanes that was limited to a a certain engine displacement that this motor met. My friend's example of a nice original car is one that retains its original drive train, interior and sheet metal.

Beautiful restoration of the cottage and a nice reflection in the water that included the Canada Geese.

Ran short on storage in card, so only a few photos taken at yesterday's car show in a nearby town.

Funny! I think we have more of the last type along our roads in Florida than all of the other types combined. I encounter those on a daily basis!

I can't blame her for divorcing the Sha after she looked at that monstrosity of a car he gifted her!

Your skill with a camera is well showcased with this post. However, I wish you had some color film in your camera to capture some of the beautiful paint jobs that must have graced these vehicles!

My first impression was "ostentation overload." However, that beautiful silver roadster is a great looking car! Another example of your excellent skills as a photographer.
