United States Air Force, 1962 to 1984. Best assignment was being a unit commander on a spy base. I was the commander, but I had a new assignment after 6 years. Two days before I left, the top commander of the USAF sent me a note of congratulations, saying I was the top commander in the entire USAF. Wow, off to the Pentagon for 6 years and then I retired on a Friday. On Monday I was teaching AFROTC in Maryland. I stayed for 10 1/2 years and got a retirement again. Sure loved the kids. Tony, now in Chico, CA.
Lt Col Tony Edler, USAF 1962 - 1984. Commander of three units with the last being a classified spy unit. In 1978, our unit was selected the top unit in the entire USAF. I then shipped out for my final 6 years in the Pentagon. Tony
I think it is super that folks all over America are restoring and maintaining old cars. When I joined the USAF in 1961, I had a stock 1931 Ford Victoria in pretty rough shape. I sold it to a good lifetime friend with the 'condition' that he could never sell it. In 2009 I moved back home (Chico, CA), and here is what I found in my driveway when I woke up!
Lt.Col. USAF with 22 years- 1962 to 1983. Ellsworth SD, Okinawa, Univ. of So. Calif (AFROTC), Crete Greece, and 8 years in the Pentagon. Then still wore the uniform for 11 more years as an AFjROTC instructor. Tony
Every photo perfect. Not easy to make tall straight structures look 'normal', but you nailed them. I love the cable attachment-again perfect. Tony

Pyrocanthus, the robins love them. I have seen the robins when they eat the berries that have fermented. The robins eat them and fall down drunk. True story. Tony in California
The title is just so cute! Tony
Genesis, how wonderful you received a 1st Place Award. You inspire me to work harder. Thanks.... Tony in California
Jerry, I had an 11 ton cutter (sailboat) for 35 years. I remember sailing in the Chesapeake Bay on a late fall day and instantly the clearness disappeared and fog was everywhere I couldn't see past the bow. So, using my depth meter I followed the 30 foot mark for about 20 miles until I heard the Potomac River fog horn. I then headed up the Potomac River and about 5 miles later a massive Coast Guard cutter's crewman shouted down to me with a loudspeaker, "Captain, do you know where you are?" "I said about 20 yards south of the No. 2 marker." He replied, "Right on, have a good trip." I never did see the Coast Guard cutter, and the angle of sound from the ship came from almost straight up. Sailors love lighthouses, and all helpful markers while underway! Your photo warmed my heart. Tony
Back in the 60's we had several new to USA oriental wives on our USAF base. The ladies would squat on the toilet seat while wearing high-heel shoes. This caused deep holes in the toilet seats. Cost quite a bit to replace the seats.
Always have your safety belt locked on. Our top photographer in Redding and Chico, CA met his demise when he fell out of a small plane while shooting scenes. Tony
sailors mom, please know that my wife and I are so exhausted it is very sad. The poor dog cannot be blamed. Only two days to go when Keegan gets to go back to training. Thanks for your kind comments. Tony, in Calif.
Thanks Goober and bigwolf40! Keegan gets his cone off and his stitches out in 2 days.... he sure will be happy about that. His dad was a National Champion. He is very willful, I can assure you. Tony
