Jcam, He dove with his whole body to catch that catfish. I estimate it was at least 2' long. He was shaking the water off his body and at the same time the fish was putting up quite a struggle so he finally flew off and landed on in the woulds somewhere. He didn't want to loose that baby. Don't know how the hell he swallowed it.?
Waited quite awhile for this Great Blue Heron to catch a fish and when he did it sure was a whopper. The catfish was giving him a hard time so he flew off to a spot on the shore so he wouldn't loose it. I don't know how he managed to swallow it, but I saw him again today and he still looks healty.
Well cameranut, the back yard can be very quite somedays and other days something out of the ordinary will show up. As far as the Fisher-Cats I can hear them at times but it is always at dark. I heard that a young woman was jogging at the nearby high school on the athletic field when she was bitten from behind on her leg by a rabid Fisher Cat. They haven't been around this year. Had quite a few of them at my vacation home in VT but have never got a shot of one.
Thanks for viewing and comments.
Thank you very much mffox.
Thank you Greg and I whole heartily agree with you. Some call my back yard The Wild Kingdom. I live next to a small stream which is heavily wooded in a residential area. I have Coyotes, Wild Turkeys, Deer, Raccoons, Possums, Fisher Cats, Squirrels, Red-tail, Sharp-shinned & Coopers Hawks, Red fox, Grey Fox and a lot of feral cats. I some times wonder why I drive many miles in search of other wildlife. Then I realize, like a fishing trip you never know what you will find or photograph..
