Here are a couple of photos that represented 'issues'. The biggest issue was that halfway through this project, my 5D apparently collected too much humidity & dust and quit working. So I had to finish the job with my backup T3i. Not ideal for me, but had to 'soldier on'. Also, the T3i ISO isn't as good as the 5D at seeing in the dark [iso6400 vs 25000!].
The biggest issue we faced every day was lighting. The client supplied the lights which (I found out later) they bought at a hardware store. Interesting...
1. the first image was tough to light because the client wanted me to shoot these ancient pots through the little hole (from 1 chamber to the next) with the girl to show scale. I had to lay on the ground in a pitch-black chamber to get this shot. We had only 4 lights which we used all of them to light the rear chamber, so I had to 'paint' the light with the lens open to light the girl and the area around her.
2. As you can see here, caves are very complicated. Because we spent so much time climbing around to move the lights, we averaged 6-8 shots per day.
3. This was the most difficult shot in all. We had a total of 6 (horrible) lights that were of different temps which means different colors. This chamber was probably too large to attempt this, and I added a ton of light 'painting' to light the areas close to me. I will need to even out the hot spots in photoshop before considering this to be finished.

Have stopped in too UHH for awhile now and decided that it is time to jump in. Thanks to everyone who takes the time to help others here. I've always thought: Photography is like cooking. EVERYONE has a new recipe and it is ALWAYS a learning experience.

As for me, I spent the month of January in Belize for a client shooting Mayan Ritual Caves. That was the biggest challenge of my life: both photographically as well as physically. Whew! Caves are cool because they are pitch black and you have 100% control over the lighting. Problem is: they are pitch black and you have no natural help with the lighting!

Anyway, thanks for being here.
