E-Bay stands behind sales, and you can get protection by buying coverage from Square Trade. I've had E-Bay intercede and get my money refunded on a misrepresented bridge camera, never had to use my coverages from Square Trade (just peace of mind, cameras, tv I-Pad Mini).
Hope this helps...

I have a very archaic system right now and want to upgrade. Can you tell me if the following computer would be good for photo editing?
Thanks, Paul

Ask Jerry about factory Apple re-furbs. May cost a bit more, but goes the distance. I'm on an 8 yr old MACBOOK, and am waiting for the arrival of a 1-T hd, $ $87.00. Upgraded the Ram once to its max, and just having a "ball".
Even heckling those who don't understand PENTAX !

I was thinking today about what a difference the Internet has made on photography. I'm a newbie to photography and if there was no internet it would have made it much more difficult for me to learn about photography. I live in a relatively small town and the nearest camera store is 50 miles away. There is a community college in this town but in the 2 years since I began this journey they haven't offered any photography classes at all. They are partners with another comm. college 40 miles away that has offered them, but they were night classes during the winter so I was reluctant to sign up considering the weather we can get around here. This left me with few options besides the internet. Yes, there is a camera club in town which I visited but wasn't too excited by what I saw upon my visit.
So, I have this huge resource right in my own home called the internet. I can log on and be instantly connected with thousands of photographers with a ton of experience. As a UHH member I can log on and ask a question which will be answered with as many different opinions as there are grains of sand in the desert but normally within a day have the right answer.
As a member of UHH and Viewbug I connect with thousands of other photographers and am challenged, inspired and encouraged daily with an opportunity to view tens of thousands of incredible photos.
All of this is made possible in this small town in Iowa due to the internet.

As a final, you should thank Al Gore for inventing the internet (as he says), and send a financial contribution to the "poor little rich boy"...LOL

I use iPhoto only to offload photos from my camera... after that, I use LightZone for viewing and post-processing....

I do not drop them from iPhoto to my Time Machine drive - they go onto a separate external drive that Time Machine backs up...

Hey Pentax-K50, are you enjoying the Nikon/Canon UHH site?
Some of these blowhards have never even heard of a Pentax, much less, how to spell Pentax. I've owned 4-5, and now enjoy my old K10D, w/factory 18-250, but then again, I'm old too. Have no problems w/my 6yr old MACBOOK doing photos
w/Aperture, I-Photo, & Adobe Photoshop elements. APPLE One to One is the way to go ...IMHO. Then again, I don't have big $$$.

The city where I love is a study in opposites - literally within blocks of each other, we have absolutely gorgeous architecture in the Historic District with houses that are kept in pristine condition - and yet a few streets away, things are not so.

The colors of paint on this house remind me of some I have seen in the city of New Orleans, which is why I stopped to photograph it in the first place. And while I did a credible job of bringing out the colors, Lynne looked at it once and said "How tacky! It's a shame they would do that to such a beautiful house.

I have heard the comment here that PP is used to cover up a bad photograph. If anyone is so inclined, you have my permission to download this picture, apply a thick coating of Neon Glow (or any other effect) and upload to this thread. Have fun!

Thank you, Treepusher. Fortunately the Eagle didn't move for awhile. There was a lot of professional looking photographers there shooting this Eagle.

May have been a lot of "professional" photographers there, but, they ain't got 'nuttin on you! have you contemplated selling these eagle pix to Canon and Tamron for their advertising ? $$$?
Stunning work !, IMHO.

One of our UHH members generously offered to solder two wires to a Craftsman garage door remote, something I wasn't able to do. I want to put the remote under my dashboard and use a button on the dash, wired into remote, to control the garage door.

Here's the problem. I have a red garage and a white one, both with the same kind of remote. The red button works the red garage, and the white button works the white garage. For the remote with the soldered wires, I had to reprogram it so that the white button would open the red garage. (That's where the wires were soldered.) No problem. I pressed the Learn button on the motor and then pressed the white button on the remote. Worked like a charm.

One problem. That white button now works both garage doors, even though I programmed the red button to open the white garage. No matter what I do, the white button opens both doors, and the red button opens the white garage.

I have several other remotes that work the way they're supposed to - red/red and white/white.

Any ideas?

Park the car (s) outside, use garages for junk storage...open doors from inside when needed.
