Love these shots, #1 most of all. I know the BA were flying behind the building but at first glance things don't look too promising for the people in the windows :)

I wasn't sure if someone can see those people in the windows. Now I am! Thank you for your comment.

Without the tractor? No way! The STORY will be lost. It's a background music of this picture. And as a background it should be blurred. Perfect image. Thank you for sharing.

Crimea is 60% russian, 25% ukrainian, 12% tartar... a lot of the Ukrainians and almost all of the tartars didn't vote as a protest.

Washington Post - 82.7 percent of eligible voters in Crimea cast ballots.
the final result was 96.77 percent to rejoin Russia and 2.51 percent against.

Oh, it's not tartars. They are Tatars.

Straight to the point on LEFT and RIGHT:

I've often wondered if this was a result of an empirical study with quantifiable data or an arbitrary 'rule'. Your explanation does make sense and from a purely subjective point of view, feels right. What about diminishing perspective shots?

LOL! I wish it was MY explanation!
I wonder what 'quantifiable data' could be used to see the difference between beautiful and ugly, pleasant and unpleasant? What 'quantifiable data' do people use when they say 'I love you!'... I guess there are a lot of things in our world which are not backed up by quantifiable data. The Rule of Thirds is one of them. We can measure it with our emotions only. The Rule simply tells us - if you follow my recommendations (or know when not to)... you will get more followers on Flicker.
Very nice shot BTW.

Straight to the point on LEFT and RIGHT:

http://users.rider.edu/~suler/photopsy/rulethirds.htm

“In an image with a single subject and lots of background or negative space, we might apply the Rule of Thirds by creating twice as much background or negative space as subject. Usually, we would place the subject in the RIGHT third.
Based on how people read, in many cultures the eye moves more naturally from left to right, so the viewer will feel more secure entering the background or space on the left and moving naturally to the subject on the right. The position of the subject will look more grounded.
However, in some shots, we might instead place the subject on the LEFT to create a sense of uneasiness and tension. The eye lands on the subject, trails off into the empty space on the right, and then tries to jump back to the subject, resulting in a “shifting” feeling.”

For Design: This cold be improved by moving the coin stack to the upper left of the rule of thirds. That is the most powerful spot because it is the first place someone looks.

For Western culture? Left?

What is the best settings for indoor concert pictures?

Depends on your camera-lens combination.
Last weekend I was shooting Chicago Blues Festival with Canon Mark 5DIII with Sigma 120-400mm. I knew I will be at 300-380mm most of the time so I used Tv at 1/320 sec and set ISO to Auto. You may see a few pics I posted, just search for Chicago Blues Festival.
If you provide your camera/lens info you could get more precise advice.
Oh, and don't forget to have fun at the concert! Good luck.

You could use a wider focal length and move in closer, if you want to stick to that focal length, but just can't get the DOF you would like, do some fous stacking.

Wider focal length? Move in closer? I guess I miss something. :?:

I just want to know your opinion. Which of these photos do you like better? Thanks in advance This IS a test...

Number 1. Clearly defined POI, eye stays on the orange pencil.
On #2 my eyes are constantly moving trying to find POI. What's the right answer? :-)

Very nice...and nice shots too!

I wonder if LR4 and Topaz DeNoise will have different results in noise reduction of these pics. It would be interesting to compare side by side. I have LR4 but no Topaz, maybe will download a trial.
Thank you for your comment. Regards.
