Thanks...... Going to take these back to the edit room!
It is a beautiful place, a place you can get "lost" in!
Try to visit there some day!

Besides a macro lens you can get close up lenses

that attach to the front of your camera lens or extension tubes. Tubes compromise the image quality less than the lenses. Both however will mean in macro shots you are going to have very low Depth of field and also almost certainly camera shake. The answer i sto use a tripod or a large bean bag to rest your camera on, push up the ISO and then use a smaller aperture which will give you better depth of field. If you are not sure how to calculate DOF use one of the excellant calculators online. I use the one linked here. Find it is great as you can enter the figures over and over again changing the aperture and you can see the differences that a stop or two make in practice. Good luck. here's the link

Thank you so much for that good information.....never heard of using a bean bag before but it makes good sense! I do not really need a lot of depth of field for macro photography, so it should work......I will also try the extension tube!
Thanks, and happy snapping!

Did you use the pre view and manual focus?

Yes I did.....and that was exactly my view and the best manual focus I could manage.......I was however holding my camera as it wasn't possipbe to get that low with my tripod.

I can't afford a macro lens right now for my Canon EOS 7D so my local camera shop recommended these magnification lenses but the focus area in my frame is so rediculously small.....I use a stack of +1 ans +2 for these pics. Can anyone help me with some advice please.

Thank you Linda,
Yes, regarding the sloping ocean, guess I concentrated more on the rocks in the foreground!!
As for the seaweed on the beach, I guess it was the result of reluctance to leave.....appreciate your critique.

Love the first two! On the last one, my brain can't quite wrap around the sloping ocean. Next to last one: not sure, maybe a bit too much going on?
