I hope that's not your boat. We are having some very low water levels in the Great Lakes. I do like your picture .

Hi Erv, Nice shots. We were quite cloudy early then the sky cleared . Had to try a few shots. It was a beautiful moon. I was a little disappointed I did not get more detail also. I did a search on line and found this tip:

if you photograph the moon when it is full you are effectively looking at it head on in almost the same plane of sight as it is being lit by the sun, therefore there are NO shadows or contrast. If you want to capture the craters and mountains then you need contrast and hence it is best to photograph the moon when it is NOT full, but 1/2 to 3/4 illuminated, so you are effectively seeing it from the side. Compare to a photo of a person's face straight on, you cannot see the shape of their nose, but from the side and you see the shape & definition. – Barry Semple Dec 12 '11 at 19:57

One important item to add to this ... if you photograph the moon when it is full you are effectively looking at it head on in almost the same plane of sight as it is being lit by the sun, therefore there are NO shadows or contrast. We do have some pretty good fishing around here. Salmon fishing is still going strong in the rivers and when the lakes freeze some ice fishing to follow. Deer hunting season just stated here in Michigan so that's center stage right now. Enjoy your fishing trip.

Took a hike around Pickerel Lake. It was a beautiful mid November afternoon in Michigan.

The moon and the night sky are pretty amazing . You got a great shot. It was another pretty crescent moon tonight. It's kind of unusual to have as many clear nights as we have been having latley here in Michigan.

Missed the meteorite shower but already thinking about the possibility of a bright comet next November.
This is a link.

New comet might blaze brighter than the full Moon

Thanks. I have a Sony DSH-200 V. I let the camera do the work on this shot. It has a low light moon setting. I used full zoom 60x. I have been truly impressed by some of the great pictures on this site and also the fun ones.
