No, seriously ---

What kind of card reader do you have? Does it support SD and CF cards? Did the SD card work in the card reader? What kind of computer do you have? PC or Mac? Does it have built in CF and SD card readers? the SD works and the CF doesn't?

Once we establish that the card reader you are using works, then we can address the problem. So if the external reader is not recognizing an SD then it's not likely to recognize a CF. When you unplug the card reader and plug it back in, does the computer pause for a time and tell you that it's searching for a driver for the new device? If not, then try a different USB port. It has to tell you that it has recognized the device and it's installing drivers for it then it will tell you it's ready for use.

One of her songs, The Thing-Ummy Bob is used today in the UK for an advert for Square Card payments.

As well as the troops, she paid tribute to the people in the service industry that kept the military 'machine' running.
The words go:-

I'm the girl that makes the thing
that drills the hole that holds the ring
that drives the rod that turns the knob
that works the thing-ummy bob

I think you are a bit confused, that song was Gracie Fields not Vera Lynn !

Not really when you are aware of what is going on over there. Of course we are not seeing it because the media does not want cover it to be involved, it's not there job anymore.

It is about time the great USA offered to take some of these people, Europe is being swamped right now, the US has plenty of space!

Please don't misunderstand me, I hope you did not think I was trying to be critical. The sophistication of cameras today allows us to do things in-camera that were once only available when post processing on a computer. However, post processing is post processing regardless of where it is performed. The major difference is that in camera PP has far fewer options and lacks the ability for subtle adjustment. Adding effects to an image is post processing. Creating an HDR image in camera is post processing. It's only a question of where you are doing it. It is an important distinction. What I'm now hearing from you is that you don't have an issue with post processeing, you just don't want to spend time on a computer applying it after the fact.

no i did not think you were being critical, as i have said, i am old school and like to compose photos through the viewfinder,
back in the 50's everything had to be set manually, i.e. exposure, focus, shutter speed, aperture, film speed etc, there are a lot of "photographers" who would not have a clue how to do that! but of course they still enjoy photography, as i do

Guess what, by using the "dramatic art" setting you are performing PP except with less control over the outcome. If you were really a purist as you say, you wouldn't use it.

I take your point, but what mean is I do not do pp on my computer!
I need to point out that I have been taking photos for over 60 years, I have worked in dark rooms, photo studios, taken wedding photos etc etc, so I am not a novice, I have progressed from b&w film, through colour film and now for the past 10 years, digital photography, the basics of photography remain the same and I am still very enthusiastic about my hobby,
Thank you all for your comments

Why not keep both, and use them for different things, or keep the Panny as a backup while using the Nikon as a primary tool? Who says you can't have two, or more, cameras? Most pros have at least two cameras. They usually-but not always-use the same brand, but no law says that you have to.

The best camera(s) for you is / are the one(s) that you will use.

I think I should keep Nikon as a back up!

This pic was taken on dramatic art setting, that can be a lot of fun, nice for some landscapes, i do not use photoshop or lightroom, the only post processing i do is lighten or darken or crop, i am old school and believe you should make all adjustments in camera, thats just me! i believe all pp takes away being a photographer
