Would you make the call if you paid for the more expensive lens & you were sent the less expensive lens? I bet you would call so fast the phone line would catch fire. It's your decesion......who knows for your honesty they may tell you Merry Christmas & enjoy their mistake.

Quite a few years ago after visiting my wife's family in North Carolina I decided to take the Blue Ridge Parkway from Boone , North Carolina. We stopped at Mystery Hill, Linville Falls ! Blowing Rock, Lineville Caverns , Grandfather Mountain, the photographic opportunities were endless. Have fun & enjoy the trip!

It matters more on understanding how to properly use the camera. you can own thousands of dollars of high end lenses & the highend body but if you are shooting in auto it doesn't matter. As mentioned ford or Chevy.

If you've got lots of money to burn, go for the "L". I have the non L 100 macro and am very pleased. Check out my Flickr page for examples of macro with the non L lens. Good luck!

Your photos are incredible. It proves knowing how to use the equipment trumps not knowing & spending a bank roll & getting mediocre photos.

I too had a nice experience with Canon.
After purchasing a CanonSX50 last year, and.giving it a test run, I went on vacation. Shooting mainly in wildlife refuges, the camera came up with a glitch, wouldn't turn on and off, so I sent it in to the Canon service center. A short while later they contacted me, said it was unrepairable, and sent me a brand-new camera. By the way, I had a backup SX40 down there with,me. Luckily, I had followed my own rule of having a backup always available. The Canon service people were excellent.

Just another post, showing again the usually excellent customer service, Canon shooters are acustomed to.

You are right. Being in retail for over 25 years I always told my sale staff that their job started when the customer need service or support. It's one thing to sell a product but service & support makes them come back for future purchases

I just wanted to let people on here know about the experience I had with the Canon service center in Irvine , Ca. I sent my D40 & 24-105L to Canon for cleaning & tuneup. I had spots in my photographs in the viewfinder & they were showing up in the light areas of my photos. I was notified as soon as they received my lens & camera & after I approved the service the following day the service was completed in 2 days & was on the way back tome. They also updated the camera & they were perfect.

I might be looking to buy a Canon 24-105 f/4 L but don't know yet. I was told there's some vinetting in the corners at 24mm. I was wondering if anyone out there has one, and if so, how do you like it?
I'm hoping I can pick up a good used one, but am not sure as the prices I've seen seem to rival buying them brand new (so if I'm going to pay that much, I might as well get a new one).

I bought that lens used to go with my D40 & I love it. It does have a bit of vinetting wide open but as Fred said easily correctable. As will read in many reviews there is no perfect lens, they are usually sharper when stopped down. Heck I'm not perfect (so I've heard). I've learned in life nothing is perfect regardless of what product we are talking about so enjoy many years of use.

Well, I am going to unplug it for all night. It did this once before and I am not sure what finally got it up and going but it did. So, I pray it works. I need my Photoshop! Thanks for the suggestion. GB

You're welcome GB. I hope it works for you.

Thanks UP. This is the only monitor I have for my desk top. I use it to watch a move as well. But even the dvd (not on the computer) wont show up using the input. It all just kind of stopped. Last time it worked was using the dvd watching a move. Next time I went to watch a dvd movie this is what happened and now it wont work for my desktop either. I tried changing it to all the channels but still nothing.

Many times I ave customers unplug the power cord for 10 minutes then plug back in power up. Hope it works

ok. now I just need to find a reputable dealer that has a good price on it.

there are great deals out there on that lens. Many people upgraded to 6D which came with the 24-105 but many already owned the lens.

I use the 24-105L on my D40 I love it. You can get some vinetting wide open but as it was mentioned earlier it can be a positive for some photographs. I do any correction that may be needed with Apple Apeture PP
