Robert Iowa is where I live and loess is upwards of 360 ft. deep in the highest spot and that place is called Murray Hill. The Loess Hills run from Woodbury County On the west side of Iowas South into Missouri .

Walt this is the last week of turkey season so for safety sake I'd wait till after May 22. If you like hiking you'll like the Loess Hills . DNR office in Pisgah is a good place for info, maps, and a face to face talk with one of the park rangers as far as how late parks are open. I'm sure they allow night photography . Murray Hill is a climb you may want to do (highest point in the Loess Hills) get some photos of the Missouri River Valley. DeSoto Bend is West of Missouri Valley don't miss that flowers arnt blooming yet, but if you like birding that's one of many places to go . Hitchcock is another park in Pottawattomie County interesting and they have very nice cabins you can rent . You liking sun rise and set photography you'll love the hills.
