I use one on my D7100 but only if I'm shooting to share on social media, in which case I shoot in .jpg, not RAW as I would normally and download directly to my iPhone for sharing. I've not had any issues with it.

We've been travelling for quite a few months and are back home again so I'll start posting some pics of our travels...in dribs and drabs.

G'day Brad, like Frodo, I like the first. The composition and depth is fabulous. The second composition doesn't do a lot for me though, not enough interest?
In the second post, the contrast in the cloud shot is perhaps a little overdone for my liking.
Please take my complete ignorance on IR into account when reading my comments.

I bought some expensive stuff a few years back. It was unrelated to photography, but in my view a necessary purchase that my wife did not view in the same light. (A tractor and accessories). Unknown to me at the time was that my tractor came accessorized with new living room furniture.

I bought a $13k bicycle and apparently it was accessorised with diamond ear rings!

I have heard the 24-24 does not have much of a zoom range but the image quality is second to none.

Having used both, I too would go for the optical viewfinder. I found it particularly frustrating when shooting bursts, e.g., surfing, bicycle races, BIF.

I would like to raise a caution flag, prompted by minniev above... Pgms like Lightroom, etc, will store (catalog) files for you very nicely, but they also control your photos. Set up a folder (s) anyway you wish for your photos, use the utility to edit them and return them to your folder. That way you control where they are and if you wish to use another utility to mess with them you don't hafta paint around whatever limitations the initial utility has imposed.. just saying..

Thanks again EdM,

In fact thankyou to all of you. I have those two links to follow and try.

I'm a PC guy so I'm only asking. Can you copy / paste with a MAC? That's how I do it from drive to drive. It's a little slow when you have gig's of files but it's accurate and that's all I care about.

I always store on an external drive and edit from there and it works just fine.

For example now, in my case, I had an external crash and I had all my files on DVD so I'm now re-loading them to one of my two externals. It's not fast but it is accurate.

Thanks jimmya, yes, I can and have tried it with some folders but not the iPhoto library.

How you do it may well depend on what version Macbook you have, which OS version you're using, what version of iPhoto you have. Here's a recent link with a conversation (instructions and hints) about doing this. I have not tried it but based on what I know about iPhoto it makes sense. I don't use iPhoto for much since my primary catalog is Lightroom, but I do keep my photos on an external. http://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/20197e/how_do_i_move_my_iphoto_library_to_an_external/

If you are using an older OS/iphoto, there may be some differences.

I don't know a thing about Capture NX-D so can't comment on that.

Thankyou minniev, my MacBook Pro 15' is late 2010 running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 and iPhoto 9.6 (910.29) so both programmes are current. I'll dgo the the link you provided and see what I come up with.

over the years I have "DISCOVERED" THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO USE THE DATE AS THE FILENAME. This is a hugh help in locating a particular photo tomorrow. I have a 4 TB hard drive and back up the world of photos on it, while using another smaller drive for backup AND a folders on my C: drive. Backing up is very easy if you use xcopy with the /m switch, you might want to look into that...(fer PC). xcopy with the /m switch will rewrite any file that has been changed, or any file that does not exist elsewhere to, well, elsewhere... On the PC I set up a batch file on the desktop to initiate the backup/storing.. Ed (20150202_001.jpg or .cr2) You, if necessary to name a file other than its date, can build an equivalence table....sigh...
