Thank you all. I’ll give every suggestion a try and get back. Hopefully it will be useful to other members.

My Canon 5D IV shutter button will auto focus but will not complete the process of recording the photo-no clicking sound. Also my back button auto focus is fine. Any suggestions or just send it to Canon?
Thanks

Suddenly after 1/2 pressing to focus, when I press down to raise mirror, there is not ‘clicking’ sound and mirror doesn’t go up. I’ve cleaned contacts, changed lenses and put in fresh battery. Any suggestions? Thanks

7 years ago I bought a t2i Canon and now I have a 5d mark IV. My 73 year old eyes, like my 73 year old ears, can't see or hear the advances in technology as well as they could have when I was 20...
Unlike my wife, I am not a minimalist. My heart pounds(probably not a good thing at this stage)when I see new technology. So the short answer is I totally agree that it is the eyes and mind of the photographic artist that produces the piece of work. The pleasures of reading, pricing and buying a new, shiny gadget hits my pleasure center the same as when I ,by mistake, produce a picture that captures a moment of time as I saw and photographed it in all it's wondrous subtleties. So sometimes I "think' I am better because of the melding of mind and equipment.
An evasive answer for sure. I'm watching way too many Senate Confirmation Hearings.
This is the best forum anywhere that I read regularly and once in a while contribute(?) a few thoughts too.
BTW I just walked past a photo I have on the wall. I think it is one of the best I have ever produced..It was produced 7 years ago. Enjoying life to the fullest. Wish you all the best, Jim.

Good morning. Has anyone used a MIOPS SMART TRIGGER? There was an ad on the Hog page so I immediately purchased one. Seems like something that could be a lot of fun or is it not so great and has been ‘reinvented’ time after time?

It’s funny this was brought up. My wife and I watched an old movie a while back. We mentioned it to our son who said it was shot in black and white. We both said no-color. It was black and white. So I guess our minds just colored it

Hunts is the best. From Jon to Al in their big store in Melrose. They treat you like family. So many of the staff are professional photographers. It's more like a university and incidently they sell cameras. Sometimes I pop in just to chat. I think it was years ago a drug store that sold camera equipment and then they morphed into 7? stores of photography only. In today's world of Amazon, Facebook, etc., Hunt's is an oasis for REAL human contact.

Yeah, Hunt's in Ma. Has many locations in New England with the flagship store in Melrose Ma. They are outstanding. Most of the staff also are professional photographers who love to teach. Their in house classes are excellent. They have many classes taught by world famous pros. They will meet any reputable price online and they also have a huge online business. Jon and Al have become personal friends. No, I don't work there! Just so rare to find such a great "in the flesh" location in this very texting, email, facebook world of ours.

So with an incredible repair service within this great forum, maybe buying gray(grey) market is ok for camera bodies?

This is such an amazing forum. Suddenly I'm reading about the Octagon House in Irvington, then I am subscribing to Breakthrough Photography and reading their book on filters and time lapse photography. The other day I learned how easy it is to color select for my photographs and found a super easy way to do it on Lightroom. The list is endless. So in this unusually hostile election year, I would just want to say THANK YOU to all of us in this wonderfully human little community we have created.

My 28-300 canon L lens fell off my camera and hit the concrete and dented the tube part so it could not be moved in or out. Obviously it wasn't attached correctly to my camera. Was the worst feeling(as far as loss of an object)that I ever felt. Totally destroyed and no one to blame but me, myself and I. My wife was with me and saw the horror in my face.
Usually she is very frugal(thank God she is like that because if it was up to me, I would just buy the camera store and live in a tent). Anyways, she said to get another, so I went to the Canon site and got a refurbished one. You can bet I check the camera-lens connection very carefully.
