Cheers Angler. There is also a fresh water lagoon nearby which holds kingfishers and it is rumoured Otters.

Hello again Angler, here's a few I took just around the corner from Haverigg, at Hodbarrow [RSPB] and further up the coast at St. Bees. As you said, its a great birding place, weather permitting as I'm sure you're aware

Great shots, I know the area well having lived in west cumbria most of my life. The RSPB site nearby has some fabulous winter visitors. Last time I was there saw a flock of at least 400 redshanks and many other waders too many to mention including some eider ducks. Its a great winter birding spot. Once again great pics.

Hi all, assuming we have a fairly clear sky, what are the best camera settings to record such an event. I have a Sony a900 and would possibly use the 135mm cz. Any info would be appreciated as I have not done this sort of thing before

So would I be correct in assuming you would only need one lens for a 100MP camera as you could crop without losing any picture quality, interesting.

Its not the camera that takes the photos, but the person behind it. I guess the only way to choose your new FF camera would be to try all makes to determine which one suits you best. I use Sony so am a little biased on their range. Canon and Nikon are also excellent cameras and so your choice can only be based on your preference, difficult as that may become. Good luck

Sigma 10-20mm. Light and very, very sharp. Mine was damaged and will be getting another in a week or two.

I agree with oldmalky and think Sony are commited to bieng No. 1 in the photo world. They are innovative and are not afraid to release new ideas and designs which it seems others start to follow. I use Sony and to me their range of lenses is expanding very quickly. I would get hold of a a77 and try it, I don't think you will be dissapointed

Should have mentioned the camera. A Sony a900, Its a great camera but the high iso can sometimes be a problem.

Hi all, I need a wide angle that will give me options for poor lighting in enclosed, slightly dull lit areas such as the inside of a church. I will need to replace the 10-20mm sigma f4.5 which was destroyed whilst falling down a mountain and decided to park itself between two of my ribs [now healed] but was wondering if anyone might suggest an alternative. I would prefer something that would help me keep the iso as low as possible. Thanks

I have the 70-400G as well and it gives excellent results on my a900. As an alternative there is the 500mm f8 mirror lens which although not as sharp as the 70-400 will give you the distance you require at a much cheaper price.

Try using Picasa 3, its free and will get you the collages you need. It also has some presets which may enable you to blur images.
