When I said crop with the lens I should have also said in good light you can do some cropping but not much. I took this photo using the extended (digital) crop so the camera is capable if you are careful.
I have a SX50 and use it a lot. If you are going to crop do it with the lens before you take the picture not in post processing.
To set the time of day you wish to receive the Hog you are instructed to go to settings. Where is "Settings"?
This Harris Hawk flew in right between myself and the person next to me. He was so low and fast that most of the people near me ducked.
I use a Painter's pole (6' t0 12') with a remote trigger and it works well. Look it up. Pole Photography
Gene Hackman's line in the western Unforgiven went something like this, "I woke up one morning and thought I was dead, but then I realized I was in Nebraska."
DXO Viewpoint does an amazing job of straightening verticals, horizontals alone or together plus much moore.

Speak to your doctor about the efficacy of the beta blocker "propranolol."
I'm allergic to Beta Blockers, but do use Primadone which is for seizures and it helps. As for drinking it is true that it does help but... I thought I'd try it at a wedding one night but I lost interest in shooting the wedding so that didn't work.
I also have hand tremors (Essential tremor) and it has only gotten worse over the years. Once when doing a wedding the groom's father said, "the photographer's hands shake worse than mine do". Over the years I have found flash to be about the best solution if the subjects are moving. Of course a tripod or mono-pod will also work. Most of the time though for casual shooting I use my LCD monitor. I adjust my camera strap to the right length and extend my arms creating tension in the strap. This quiets my shaking. Also if i know i will be shooting a lot I eat a bowl of pasta before hand and that seems to help. Even my doctor can't explain that.
The number one thing is to shoot with the camera level IN ALL Planes (left to right and front to back). That will minimize the distortions.

Thank you both very much. But who can I convince to sit on a cactus?

This guy was sitting on a cactus.
I had a Panny GH2 and it produced the worse Jpeg images of any camera I have ever owned. So working with raw will certainly be an advantage. I now have a Fuji X100S and those that do take the time to work with raw find it difficult to get better images than there Fuji's will produce OOC Jpegs.
