Thanks to all for the replies! I ended up using a program called Visual Watermarks.

It was intuitive to an old out to pasture IT guy with Chronic Lyme. It did everything I needed just the way I needed.

It is not freeware. There are (3) price structures, $19.95, $29.95, $39.95. I got the middle one. I like to use freeware the same as everyone else, but sometimes, "the laborer is worthy of his hire".

As a chronic lymie I know what you mean. Glad you found something that worked!

I love my D700. Not one bad thing to say about it. I've had it for 4 years and I see no reason to upgrade.

I can not see a reason for it, I had the trial version of Lightroom 5 and couldn't find a thing to actually purchase the program (I don't have it today - and missing nothing).

I have LR, and I just can't see the hype. I've tried but I always end up bringing something from LR into PS so why not just start in ACR and finish in PS?

ACR, bridge and PS works for me.

My average wedding is $4,500.00 and I give them the hi-res files on disc. When I was refusing to give the disc I lost far too many weddings. I feel that with an average of $4,500.00, I really don't think extra money for prints is necessary. I suggest to my clients that if they want an enlargement for a frame or album, that they have me retouch and print it for them. If they want a bunch of 4x6s for thank you cards they can have at it.
Just my humble opinion . . . again.

That's the way to do it! Raise your prices so that it's worth it to you to give them hi-res files without losing your shirt in missed print sales.

If I post anything on the internet, yes, it gets watermarked. And no, it's not egotistical to do so. I save a lot of photos off the internet from diy blogs and such, and I like the watermarks because then after I save them I know where they came from. If someone likes a photo of mine and does the same thing I want them also to know where it came from. Watermarking for me is a form of advertising.

I'm well aware how easy it is to clone it off, and that's not the purpose of why I watermark anyway. Anything I put on the internet has been sharpened like crazy, at 72 ppi, and shrunk down to 600px so I know no one could possibly get a print out of it.

There used to be PS learning books called "Classroom in a Book". They had tutorials and then exercises to do to learn each subject. They were around $40 and well worth the price. That could be something to look into.

I have the Black Rapid. It feels pretty secure but I always hang on to my camera. Even in situations where I need both hands to direct a client or prop a baby I just can't let my camera be dangling there. So, I don't know how well it serves its purpose. I have heard of some people having issues where their cameras have become disconnected and gone crashing to the ground. Scary.

I have a D700 and I've never felt like I was limited by it. I can print large files for clients and they come out great. At the time I bought it was working on an older laptop and I just couldn't swing the larger file sizes of the D800. Plus I knew at the time I was looking at a computer upgrade in the near future and couldn't swing the D800 plus a new iMac.

Needless to say, 2 years later I have a new computer, still chugging along with the D700 and no plans on upgrading. I saved the cash and bought a 105mm macro, and a 50mm 1.4. No regrets.

I have tried TTL but switched to manual flash because I'm a control freak and I want total control over my lighting. LOL.

Not understanding the hype but it's supposedly going sell almost a million cases at the company my husband works at. Should be interesting.

George....This is the question. I would suggest asking your doctor that question. I have just had a discussion with my son's doctor's office in which they said that any conversation that they have with me about him would be documented in his record, so I didn't have the discussion. Without insurances of privacy I would be hesitant about what I would reveal.
