Hi - I just joined UHH today, and found your topic interesting. I am never happy with pictures of birthdays and family events, although I've done plenty, and then I make Picasa Albums and everybody ends up very happy, except me.

I tend to get into slumps when the pictures I like to take for myself end up lacking in that certain "something", and then I go and post-process the s**t out of them. Then I'll go out into the yard and start taking pictures of the flowers and garden ornaments, and then I realize - my camera is all messed up because I was trying out new settings, or a different lens, etc. and I realize it's time to "get back to where I once belonged" - the set of camera settings that works best for me in most situations. With that, I've come to appreciate the Custom "C1, C2, C3" positions on my camera dial, where I can revert back to my fave setup in an instant.

Hi, my name is Dave, and I'm an "avid amateur" with no professional aspirations. I shoot mostly digital, with a Canon DSLR, but I also have a good old Spotmatic that I use once in awhile, just to keep in touch with the roots.
