I had a similar problem recently with a short zoom. I tested the lens on several objects to see if I could obtain a sharp image. When I could not get more than a soft focus image, I sent it back for repair. You may wish to test you body with another lens.
Well said. I use the Pentax K-30, K-01, and the KX and use a variety of lens from Tamron. Short zooms f 2.8 and the Tamron 70-200 f2.8. The best photo still needs some post processing.
Thanks to all for the advice -- also rented the sb-900 was not proficient with that never used it before -- a little learning curve with that -- posted revised pic on the girl -- good advice on the fill flash -- if I was better with Elements I may have gotten rid of the car.
Sparks Lane in Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, after a light early winter snowfall.

Here are a couple of Fall photos from Cades Cove.
I really like the photo of Shields Cabin. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! That is a great place. The first time I was there in winter it was 13 degrees above zero and the snow was about six inches deep. My Little Brother was responsible for that trip.
Rented a 17-55 2.8 from LensGiant for 2 wks for my daug wedding -- we did hire a pro for the wedding -- posted are my attempt using the lens -- have D7000 -- still trying to figure out focus modes/metering. Used Lightroom to crop and adjustments. Shot in raw + jpeg.
Very nice photography. Might I suggest that you use a fill flash, where appropriate, to highlight the face and fill in harsh shadows. I believe you would be pleased with the effect.
MWAC has tried to provide a service to a neighbor, improve her skills, build s portfolio and contribute back to the art of photography. She charged a nominal fee for her geographic area. uuummmm...let me see who would I want to associate with when it comes to photography.....
MWAC forget the text, edit your photos, collect the money, deliver the disc and go on with your life. This is one good growth experience in photography.
Things like this are why I only do "volunteer" photography now days. I can pick and choose. If they don't like it...FINE!
